How each of you became a part of Harlem Did you know this would be the show's final season?

Logan Browning I was invited to come. This was right after the strike, the culmination of (2024), and I was like, "i love harlem". I guess I didn't know it was the last season, but I knew right away.

Gayle Bean I had no idea this was the last season. This is my third time auditioning for this show – I think I’ve probably auditioned every season. I got the call back in my car after my last audition. I got the timing mixed up, and maybe five minutes before the audition started, I double-checked my email and I was like, "Oh crap, it's gonna be here in five minutes." I was taking a Lyft Driving from a friend's house in Jersey to my house in Brooklyn, I was like, "Okay, let's try to get back. Let's try to get back." And then I realized we weren't going to make it in time, and my friend said, "I I'm going to take you to a hotel in the city," and I said, "No, I'm not going to make it." So I called back on my laptop in the car, and I made sure I didn't get it. . After the first scene, they said, "Okay, thank you." I hung up the phone and they called me and said, "Can you pick up the phone again?" I said, "Oh, I thought I was It was so bad in the first scene that you all said, 'Bye.'" (laugh)

sribo coffee I worked with Stacey Muhammad. She is one of the directors of the play queen candy She called me and said, "I'm studying HarlemI feel like this character could be you,” and I was like, “Okay, bet.” "I'm excited to be in New York. I love New York. As Logan said, the strike was quiet. I wanted to work out and get my juices flowing, so it made sense. I didn't know it would be the last One season.

Gail, who are the other roles you've auditioned for in the past?

bean The strange thing is that they are all Tai Yi's lovers. So she said, "I'm glad it's this one," because this one has the longest arc.

Logan, from the beginning it seemed like Portia and Ian's relationship was going to be tested, even though your character seemed surprisingly tolerant of Camille's interference. How would you describe Portia? Is it difficult for you to keep her mind on her?

Browning As a fan of the show, it's hard for me to step into a situation like this that I've seen. It's different when you're someone who doesn't know what's going on in real life, but - and maybe Ian has shared some of their ups and downs with Portia - I just think Portia is ready alright. We all, in our 30s, get to that age where you say, "I'm ready." Ian and her had a previous friendship, and it felt like they both had a relationship where they learned a lot stuff, so it feels safe. It feels good. Maybe we haven't been perfect in the past, but let's try. I think there's something friendly and lighthearted and fun about their relationship, despite all the drama.

Kofi, as soon as the trailer was released, fans on X started rooting for Quinn and Seth without even knowing what he was doing. Should the audience believe your character?

Sriboy Yes, unless proven otherwise. I recently took a picture and saw graffiti on the wall, it was funny, it said "Trust" in big letters and then underneath it said "But Verify". I think validation comes from tuning. But even though I'm playing Seth, I don't know if I should trust him. Every page I turn I'm like, "What the hell? What the hell is he going to do?" I'm just waiting for something because every time someone comes on the show I'm like, "What's wrong?" A catch is a catch, but this It's a very subtle capture, a very honest capture. I think that's the part I have to discover and work with because you won't see it from the jump. There are assumptions, a lack of insight, and you think there is too much self-awareness, but then the blindness that comes from emotion and desire makes something that seemed transparent and safe turn into something else in just a second. When I read (the script), I wanted to blame someone. I wanted to blame Seth, but I thought, wait, I have to do him justice because this is his truth. It's a wonderful emotional journey.

You both come from TV shows where you're either a main character or a series regular, what's it like coming into the show as a newbie with an established cast?

Browning I love it so much because it's a show that already exists. We all got to watch and soak it all in. When you're the lead on a show, you have to do a lot of work, not just script work, you have to cast your crew, your cast, your guest appearances, and that's what these women and Taylor did. They really welcomed us which was a job in itself. But what I love most is watching. When you're watching at home you're watching the characters, but when I was on set I was watching my actor friends perform and I was amazed because then I could see the lines on the page and then see their work And then say, "This is your interpretation, and it's beautiful." That's why I love being in this position.

Sriboy As Logan said, seven years from the show, creating this identity from scratch, comes with a lot of pressure, weight and responsibility. There's a lighthearted feeling of, like, how can I be the best tool to support something that exists? I really focused on what I meant to Quinn. That's Seth's point. So that's good because I'm very focused. I can really relax, be the tool I need to be, and just think about service.

bean I'm used to being part of an ensemble cast, but this felt very focused. I didn’t really get to work with the other actors. This was my storyline with Jerry, and every day on set was a lot of fun. They are like flies on the wall in our lives. Jerry is an extraordinary leader because she really sets the tone. Starting from the beginning, the way the crew treats you, and the cast and crew, when I came in, it felt like they had known me for a long time. I’m so grateful every day I work on that show. This experience is unique.

What are your plans next?

bean I have a movie, eyes opennow and later in select theaters HarlemSeason 3 P-valley.

Browning I have a show called criminal Coming soon to Amazon, starring Charlie Hunnam, Emilia Clarke, Luke Evans and Adria Horner. It's based on a comic series and I play an internal affairs detective, which I never thought was possible for me. It's very different and dark and I can't wait to see it for myself.

Sriboy I've been working on a large personal project. Its name is Torah. This is a creative residency for New Orleans artists. We've been renovating for two years—two years too long—but we're finally where I've always wanted to be. We will be opening our large opening exhibition to the public for the first time during the Super Bowl, February 6-8, and then taking it to Frieze Los Angeles. It's called "Every Color of Black, Every Form of Art," so we talk about fine art of course, but also about photography, culinary artists, designers, executives, actors, musicians, the range of art, and of course, black art . That's what I'm excited about right now.
