Hamas says U.S. citizen Edan Alexander

In a statement Sunday, Hamas said Edan Alexander, the last U.S. citizen to be kidnapped and kidnapped by Hamas terrorists for more than 19 months, will be released.

“As a fraternal mediator, the Hamas movement has maintained ties with the U.S. government over the past few days as part of its efforts to reach the ceasefire,” the statement said. “The movement has shown high enthusiasm that Edan Alexander, an Israeli soldier with dual U.S. citizenship, will serve as a step towards the ceasefire, reopen the intersection and allow humanitarian aid and relief to our people in the Gaza Strip.”

It is not clear when Alexander will release it. Israeli media reports claim it could be within 48 hours.
