House Republicans are celebrating Medicaid reforms in a Big Beauty Act, which House Republicans say eliminates waste, fraud and abuse to provide waste, fraud and abuse to Americans who need coverage the most.
Meanwhile, Democrats have opposed possible Medicaid layoffs since President Donald Trump was elected in November. Now that his "big, beautiful bill" has passed in the House, Democrats are defining Medicaid cuts as driving issues ahead of the 2026 competitive midterm elections.
Republicans say there is more to this story.
"A big beauty bill puts Americans first. We are protecting the borders. We are protecting the most vulnerable welfare. We are investing in American manufacturing. We are investing in our own energy production," R-Ind. Rep. Erin Houchin told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview.
“It is wrong for Democrats to be focused on this particular line of attack that 13.7 million Americans will lose health care.”

A nonpartisan analysis of the U.S. Congress, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that by 2034, 8.6 million people in the U.S. will lose health insurance by passing a large Beautiful Bill Act Medicaid reform.
"Five million of these people received tax credits under the Affordable Care Act, and Democrats passed the date the Democrats implemented.

The CBO estimates that by 2034, 13.7 million Americans will lose coverage, including 5 million Americans who have already lost coverage. Many Democrats have deployed the number in their campaign message, rejecting Trump's "big and beautiful bill" passed in the House.
“I don’t trust CBO scores, nor should the American people, because it has been proven to be crazy over and over again,” added Hosing, who led the budget mark on three main committees, including House Rules, Budget and Energy and Commerce Committees.
The Conservative Government Research Nonprofit American Responsibility Foundation found that 26 of the 32 staff members of the CBO Health Analysis Department “clearly” validated liberal partisan bias, as Democratic donors, registered Democrats or Democratic primary voters, as FOX NEWS digital numbers reported.

Horton said a large beautiful bill bill has not cut Medicaid for the most vulnerable. Instead, she said that targeting waste, fraud and abuse in Medicaid cuts benefits for illegal immigrants, those eligible for benefits that are currently being offered, in one or more states and in capable but not working, repeat enrollment for those who are.
If you have to consider four things that are Medicaid to strengthen it, then we will remove any illegal, unqualified or duplicate people and we ensure that adults who perform well in an expanding population have a very moderate job requirement in exchange for the benefits of receiving benefits.
Republicans say they are cleaning up the program to ensure working families and the most vulnerable Americans can rely on the program to replace offspring.

“What we have to do is protect valuable Medicaid for those who need it most,” Hosing said. “That’s what we’re doing. No one in the traditional Medicaid population needs to worry about. Even if you’re in the expansion of embodying size, there are plenty of opportunities to comply with Medicaid.”
However, Democrats have defined Medicaid cutting as a definition issue for 2026.
"The huge tax scam from House Republicans will set millions of people out of their health insurance," Viet Shelton, spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), told Fox News Digital. "It's true. Independent analysts say so. Healthcare professionals say so.
After weeks of negotiations through a budget settlement, House Republicans finally reached a consensus and passed a Beautiful Act last week. The bill passed only 215 to 214, and all Democrats voted against it. The Republican slim majority brought Trump a legislative victory.

But the battle of “big and beautiful” is far from over because the Senate is tasked with drafting its own version of the bill. Senate Republicans said they do not support the bill in their current form.
"I don't want to see rural hospitals close because funds are being cut. I don't like the idea of hidden taxes for working poor people either. That's why I don't make sense to this home bill in my current form," said Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.).
The massive, trillion-dollar legislation advances Trump’s agenda on taxation, immigration, energy, defense and national debt. The bill includes Trump’s key campaign commitments, including no taxes on tips and overtime work, and attempts to permanently expand his 2017 tax cuts and jobs bill.
“By cutting the biggest cuts to historical Medicaid, Republicans are evacuating health care from millions of Americans and imposing de facto hidden taxes on working-class families,” DCCC Chairman Suzan Delbene said in a statement after the bill passed. “Now that vulnerable Republicans are voting for this, this betrayal of the American people will cost them their work in the mid-term and Republicans’ work.

While Democrats target vulnerable Republicans for supporting Medicaid reform in Trump’s “Big and Beautiful Act,” Republicans aim to target Democrats voting against tax cuts on the bill.
“House Democrats voted for the largest tax increase passed down from generation to generation, while providing taxpayer-funded freebies to illegal immigrants. The NRCC will ensure that voters don’t forget how they betray their working families,” Mike Marinella, spokesman for the National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) said in a statement to Fox News’ digital numbers.
When House members return to their state and communicate with voters during the recession of Congress, the NRCC encourages House Republicans to continue the crime of Medicaid reform.

“We encourage all our core groups, our members of the conference to continue to communicate with local and national media to reaffirm our authenticity of this large beauty bill,” Hosing said.
“This puts Americans first and will ensure that these programs will be in the next generation because we don’t waste any taxes, which has any valuable benefits for those who are illegal, unqualified, recruit multiple states or capable people and may be working and may be working.
