Google's iOS app is getting a new "simplified" feature that uses AI to make it easier to understand complex or technical texts on the web without leaving the web page.
Simplified features are a timely improvement method developed by Google Research and use Gemini to make complex text easier to digest without losing key details. Google said its tests found that simplified text allows users to better understand and retain original information.
By offering built-in features like Simplefify, Google may want people to be able to provide complex themes within the ecosystem of their tools and services, rather than turning to popular third-party tools like Openai's Chatgpt.
You can use simplification by selecting any text on the web page you access in the Google app and clicking the simplification icon that appears. You will then see a simpler version of text to help you digest the information and allow you to continue reading.
Google's research blog shares an example of how this feature looks. For example, you might come across a reading: “The complex pathology of this condition involves the complication of the pulmonary parenchyma, diffuse interstitial fibrosis, changes in the composition of pulmonary immune cells, increased production of immune regulators, and significant remodeling of the pulmonary artery vessels.”
The simplified text will then read: This complex state involves the damage to lung tissue by emphysema, a disease that damages the air sac of the lungs and causes scars in the lung tissue widely known as fibrosis. When the immune cells in the lungs change, the human body will produce more immune regulatory factors, that is, substances that control the immune system. The blood vessels in the lungs have also changed a lot. ”
The idea behind the feature is to make it easier for people to grasp the complex topics they may encounter when trying to learn new content on the web, Google says.

Book now"Our goal requires models to be able to accurately interpret complex ideas without introducing errors or omitting key details," Google said in a blog post. "Rewriting text must help readers understand challenging material without sacrificing the integrity of the original information."
Simplification will be rolled out to iOS users this week.
