At Google I/O 2025, the company launched a range of new AI workspace features for Gmail, Google Docs, and Google VID. Most notably, Gmail is getting personalized smart replies and new inbox cleaning capabilities, while VIDS is getting new ways to create and edit content.
Personalized smart replies in Gmail will help you draft emails that match your context and tone. This feature will display your past emails and details in Google Drive to provide response suggestions for relevant information. Google says the feature will get rid of mining of its own inbox and files. Personalized smart replies will also adapt to your tone, both formal and formal.
As for the new inbox cleaning feature, Gemini can now help you delete or archive emails that you no longer need. For example, you could tell Gemini to “delete all my unread emails from last year’s “Clean Claw.”
Gmail will also get a new feature designed to help you quickly schedule appointments and meetings with people outside your organization. With this feature, you can easily provide time to your customers or customers to book or date with you. Gemini will detect when you are trying to set up a meeting and surface new features. Google says the new feature will reduce time and effort to coordinate the schedule.
All these new Gmail features will usually be available within a few months.
On the documentation, you can now link any deck, data, and reports directly into Google Docs, and Gemini can only be removed from these sources when it comes to writing help. This will focus the suggestions on trusted content, Google says. This way, whether you are developing a research summary or a business plan, write in the correct and relevant environment. This new feature usually starts today.
Google also announced that Google VID can turn existing Google slides into videos. With this feature, you can turn a sales deck or quarterly business review presentation into a video. Google points out that Gemini can help generate scripts, voiceovers, animations, and more. This feature will usually be available within a few months.
Additionally, for companies that don’t have a budget to shoot videos or have the right spokesperson, VIDS is launching AI avatars to convey their message. You can write a script and select an avatar to give you that message in the polishing video. Google says new features can be used to create videos for onboarding, announcements, product interpreters, and more. The AI avatar will be available in Google Labs next month.
Additionally, VIDS is getting a new "Trade Card" tool that will automatically remove fill words from the video, such as "UM" and "AH". Users will also be able to adjust the sound level of the entire video using the new "Balanced Sound" feature. Balanced sounds are usually available next month, while transcript interiors will be available in the lab within a few months.
Google also revealed that users will be able to create more detailed visual effects in Workspace using Imagen 4, its latest image generation model. This will allow users to create more detailed visual effects in slideshows, videos, documents, and more, the tech giant said.
