Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani did not attend a federal civil trial in Manhattan on Thursday to determine which of his assets must be turned over to two Georgia election workers he spread after the 2020 election lied.
Giuliani posted on the social media site
"No one should be threatened, harassed or intimidated. This lawsuit has taken a toll on all parties. The entire incident is unfortunate. The plaintiff and I have agreed never to speak of each other in any defamatory manner, and I urge others to do the same Do," Giuliani wrote.
Judge Lewis J. Leaman adjourned proceedings until next Tuesday. In court documents filed Thursday, attorneys in the case asked for an extension of time to finalize a tentative settlement.
Giuliani was scheduled to be the first witness in a trial to determine whether he must give up his Florida condo and other assets.
Giuliani's legal team argued that the property was his primary residence and should be exempt.
Thursday's developments come quickly after Giuliani was ordered to pay $148 million to two former Georgia women in December 2024 in connection with efforts by former President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Wandria "Shaye" Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman, say their lives have been turned upside down by the election conspiracies spread by Giuliani and Trump. Both were 2020 election workers.
"I feared for my life," Moss testified. "I really felt like someone was going to try to hang me, but there was nothing anyone could do."
Earlier in the day, Giuliani was unable to attend a scheduled court hearing, but he posted on X a video of his dog Vinnie at President-elect Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. Mar-A-Lago) Resort video.
“Vinny loves hanging out at Mar-a-Lago,” Giuliani wrote, “but he’s ready to spend even more time in Washington, D.C., over the next four years supporting his favorite president, Donald J. Trump!”
Giuliani was found in contempt of court earlier this month after Judge Liman ruled that former New York City Mayor Giuliani failed to properly respond to requests for information about his assets over several months.
