Analysis: Gabriel is crucial to Arsenal in two boxes

Gabriel claims to be one of the top defenders in the Premier League because of his efficiency in both boxes.

His threat to the scene makes him a dangerous weapon - he has scored 17 goals for the Gunners since joining from Lille in 2020, which is five more than any defender.

But as the Gunners leaked in defending the dead ball scene, Gabriel's strength from the defensive suit has been noticed - from home twice to Bournemouth, once against Crystal Palace, and even at the bottom club in Southampton.

About 40% of Arsenal's expected target (XG) were ruled after Gabriel's hamstring injury.

One of the main reasons for Brazil's success is his central defender partnership with William Saliba. Both of them are fluent in French and have always been the mid-level tay pole for Gunners to defend.

Arsenal's final game of the season - a 2-1 victory in Southampton on the last day - is the first time the club has played the Premier League in its first starting lineup in nearly four years.
