Former NFL QB Alex Smith weighs in Aaron Rodgers
Alex Smith explains why Aaron Rodgers should return for at least one year.
Exercise seriously
Aaron Rodgers is an expert in playing the waiting game.
Whether he speaks, the Toutiao quarterback has great talent, whether he speaks or not. In fact, Rogers has attracted more interest this offseason due to his silence, not anything else.
This remains a constant theme for the four-time NFL MVP, who has been known in recent years for his performance on the court, but for everything that experience brings. Rogers is believed to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers after the New York Jets released a caller in the future Hall of Fame signal.
As the clock continues to hit, anyone wonders whether he is playing for Pittsburgh or announcing his retirement.
During Friday's "Rich Eisen Show", NFL Network's Tom Pelissero talked about the Rodgers' NFL future and why there is still a lot of uncertainty.
"I was told that he didn't tell the Steelers with certainty what he was coming," Perisro said. "All of these signs indicate he was coming, but he didn't say with certainty: 'Hey, June 9, book my tickets, I'm in, I'm going to join this team." As of this point, hasn't happened yet. ”
Pelissero added that the Steelers operated under the assumption that Rodgers finally signed, but he pondered the idea that quarterbacks were in view of his unique nature.
Pittsburgh’s open market options dry up, they put all their eggs in Rogers’ basket during the offseason. Russell Wilson left the New York Giants and Justin Fields signed a deal with the Jets to essentially clear their quarterback room from last season.
Kirk Cousins sees it another potential option, but insiders point out that the Atlanta Falcons’ substitute price is still too high, and the Steelers are now committed to the Rodgers’ ideas.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said Saturday that the Steelers are now hanging out.
"When I talked to the people on the team, they said the same thing, they've been in contact with Aaron Rodgers," Fowler said. "They were optimistic that he would be a Steeler, but he hasn't signed with the team quickly and firmly. So they continued to develop Mason Rudolph and Otas Will Howard."
Fowler pointed out that this situation is unpredictable.
Steelers' mandatory bootcamp is scheduled from June 10 to 12, with little to no obstacles.
Rodgers had visited the Steeler's facilities before, but there was little confirmation in his several public appearances.
He said on April's "Pat McAfee Show" that retirement is still a possibility and he is working on some personal matters behind the scenes. Rodgers also showed up in "Joe Rogan's experience" but did not discuss anything related to football.
Recently, he provided some information about the “You Know What I Mean” podcast saying he won’t play for the Chicago Bears, but there is a team heading to Big Windy City next season.
As the season approaches quickly, the offseason begins to fade away and the Steelers are in a fixed state.
After all, only Rogers knows what will happen and what will happen in his future.
