Mount Franklin Foods has obtained the right to make and distribute Orkla Swedish candy brand Bubs in the United States.

The US-based candy and snack business said yesterday (May 12) that it will assume the "exclusive responsibility" of producing, distributing and managing BUBS Swedish candy retail.

Franklin Food Hill said the deal marked Bubs' "first official entry". Production will begin in July and be distributed next month.

“Our retail division can always expand this brand,” said Dave Barnett, senior vice president of retail sales at Mount Franklin Foods. “From production to shelves, we are ready to meet demand and increase market share.”

Norwegian-based food group Orkla acquired Sweden-based candy maker Bubs Godis in 2022.

Last May, Orkla invested 20M (and then $1.8 million) to expand its Bubs candy factory in Sweden.

At the time, Orkla said that this expansion emerged in the demand for products from customers in “Swedish and International”.

Niclas Arnelin, CEO of BUBS during the sales business and now Director of International Expansion for Orkla’s Candy and Snack Arm, said: “The United States is one of the largest and most dynamic candy markets in the world and has partnered with Mount Franklin Foods to gain trusted, trusted, strategically stable Bubs with larger scale and long-term strategically stable Foothold.”

For Mount Franklin Foods in El Paso, the agreement supports its efforts to “accelerate its growth strategy through category innovation and global brand partnerships.”

The company produces candies, fruit snacks, nut products, mints and snacks under the brand, such as Sunrise Candy, Azar Nut and Element Food Solutions.

The company's president and CEO Enrique Grajeda described the deal as "a strategic leap in our portfolio, a perfect match for our growth vision."

Last August, Mount Franklin Foods acquired the Marshmallow manufacturer in Pennsylvania.
