Birth Rights Debate

The Supreme Court heard a verbal debate on Thursday to challenge the president Donald TrumpWorking to end birthright citizenship, the case may more broadly challenge the lower court’s power to prevent executive action.

It is not clear when the justices will rule, but their decision to make a quick case decision means opinions or orders may be issued within weeks or even days.

Judges across the ideological range appeared to agree on Thursday that the use of universal bans has surged in recent years - preventing action by Democratic and Republican presidents.
