The U.S. Department of Education found that the University of Pennsylvania allowed inter-athlete Lia Thomas to compete in the women's swimming team, violating the IX championship.
A pair of former Upenn women swimmers have experienced sharing a pool and locker room with Thomas, and he has a look at what President Donald Trump’s recent administration announcement means to them.
Conservative influencer Paula Scanlan, one of Thomas' first teammates against the school, told Fox News Digital that the news "excited" her, but she was also skeptical of its impact.
"I'm happy to hear that the Department of Education is cracking down on the University of Pennsylvania. In the end, though, I doubt my alma mater will take meaningful action. They have years to solve this problem and apologize to the affected female athletes, but they chose not to, but they chose not to."

Former Upenn women swimmer Grace Estabrook told Fox News Digital that she hopes for further and tougher action.
“I am grateful for their leadership on these issues and I hope to see accountability soon for all those who accompany us, and male athletes deprive us of women athletes and violate our rights in the locker room.
“I am grateful to the federal government for finding Pennsylvania violated the IX Championship, just like when we asked us to bathe with men in 2021-20222222222222222222222222222222222222222. The government’s discovery of sexism in Pennsylvania is an important first step, but women cannot stop women’s protection.

this Education Department The Office of Civil Rights says it will provide universities with 10 days of compliance with Title IX or risk of criminal referral Ministry of Justice. Compliance will include the publication of statements about its intention to follow Title IX and two other key actions.
“Restore all individual sports records, championships, honors, awards or similar recognitions of all female athletes, stolen in Class I swimming competitions, and are included in the Women’s Category by male athletes.
“Give each female athlete a letter whose personal approval was restored and apologizes on behalf of the university for allowing her educational experience with sexual discrimination in track and field.”
Fox News Digital approached the University of Pennsylvania for comment.

The university is currently suing Thomas for the case in which Estabrook and her two other former teammates, Margot Kaczorowski and Ellen Holmquist.
The lawsuit also cited the Ivy League and the NCAA on the grounds that their experience with Thomas and the agency’s handling of the situation. The lawsuit also attempts to get all Thomas praise in the women's category to be removed.
