John Alite made a major plan for the Englishtown, New Jersey, a famous small village with potatoes, drag racing, and the Battle of Monmouth during the Revolutionary War.
But not everyone is sure they want Alite, 62, to comment on municipal affairs in a town of about 2,350 people, where he was appointed to the council member earlier this year and confirmed earlier next month.
The reason is an unusual: Alite's background - he is open to him - as a former member of the Gambino criminal family, he has a long history of violence, murder and blackmail.
For Alite, Alite was once the top "income" for John "Teflon Don" Gotti and later served as son John Gotti Jr., but was taken over in Brazil, where he was detained for two years, while Alite worked with the young Gotti to collaborate with witnesses of the young Gotti and plead guilty, including two Murdders, including two Murders.
But in his own narrative, Alite is a changeable man and plans to help small New Jersey communities in the coming years instead of causing chaos like the past few years. On the agenda, ask the kids to get rid of their crime life, pair with the pebbles and restaurants similar to nearby Princeton, and keep the fentanyl dealer.
Alite's story is a fascinating one. The Albanian through extraction - meaning he could never be the "maker" of the Italian mob - he was nicknamed the "calculator" because his financial acumen helped move 8 kilograms of cocaine per month. Former FBI agent Ted Otto said Alite was “a mixed gangster…is an exception to the rule.”
Can his gangster background be applied to economics, licensing, zoning and building regulations in small American towns? He certainly believes that he removed the yellow sunglasses for effect while sitting in an interview with The Guardian last week. The night before, he attended a council meeting advocating independent building contractors to develop abandoned township buildings.
"Some people outside the town have a lot to say, but the town is very supportive," he said, noting that the political office is natural for the former media. “People ask me why? I told them I have more experience than all these politicians.
He added: "Plus, I'm no longer a criminal - I'm on the mission of doing things the right way."
Last year, after British town mayor Daniel Francisco appointed Alite to the council after many council members resigned, Alite was charged with welfare fraud at a controversial meeting.
But the plaintiff was shouted by the residents. "He started a new life!" one person said, while another said, "We don't want to hear any of this!" The man who filed charges for former Alite boss Gotti Jr, USA Today.
Opposite the restaurant where Alite loves to have lunch, the store owner advises reporters to use Vaseline to cover their ears. Alite can speak, speak on the tongue of the motherland of Brooklyn. In fact, he could say so much that he hosted a popular podcast, grabbed me, wrote several books, and appeared in many documentaries, including the recent Netflix series Get Gotti.
However, the direct history of Gambino members is not entirely promising.
Sammy "The Bull" Gravano appears to be in a straight and narrow state until he is destroyed by ecstasy. Last year, John Jr.'s wife and daughter were briefly prosecuted after a fight at a youth basketball game on Long Island, allegedly ripping off a wig from a mother who opposed the team player.
But this is not Alite's story.
"I live in a community and I want the community to be safe because I know that - obviously. I want it to be as drug-free as possible because I lost my daughter fentanyl." Three years ago, 20-year-old Chelsea Alite unconsciously took the disguised percocet of fentanyl mutagenesis, causing a fatal overdose.
But there are four marijuana dispensaries in the UK town, which have obtained one-fifth of permits, twice the number of bars. Must be a high-profit business? "I wasn't on the council at that time, but I think two people would be enough," he said.
When asked if there is a fentanyl dealer in the UK town, Alite is convincing. He is the person accusing fentanyl dealer of involvement in fatal overdoses. He noted that when he was a dealer — “I wish I wasn’t” — and was asked to provide paint, cocaine or mescaline, “we didn’t stick to it.”
It's a logical style that permeates Alite's idea: it's not good to do bad things, but at least these things are honest, mainly for those who are doing bad things too. He is also a Republican. He has met with Trump several times, and like Trump, he sees the federal government as a shaky action with plunder and bagging talents.
"John Gotti Sr, who I met as a kid, always told me: the government is a mafia. I would laugh and think he was crazy, but then I learned that he was absolutely right," he said. "But I'm just young and innocent."
But what would the Alite be elected in it look like? "It doesn't look like a beautiful quaint jersey town," he said. "I want old-fashioned lighting, cobblestone sidewalks, restaurants, florists, Duncan donuts. What are the old mayors and councils doing over the years?"
If he is elected to the Council, the British town can expect a major escalation under the guidance of a man who knows both sides. “People asked me why I was a politician and I told them: Because most of them are corrupt, and now I’m not corrupt, so I can see what they are doing and what I’m going to do with them.”
