Former Los Angeles Lakers player and coach Byron Scott was sued by a woman who accused him of sexually assaulting her at the age of 26 in 1987, and she was 15.
The woman claimed the attack occurred during a team event at Campbell Hall High School in Los Angeles. The lawsuit was originally filed in December 2022, but was revised on May 1 to charge Scoe's character assault and false imprisonment.
The amendment was first named in the complaint after it was previously identified as "John Doe" in order to remove its name from court documents.

The lawsuit noted that the victim was taking summer classes at Campbell Concert Hall High School when she was “sexed by Byron Scott in the closet of a locked janitor in the high school gym.”
The Lakers filmed teaching basketball videos in high school in 1987 while meeting students, parents and faculty.

Scott denied the allegations through his attorney Linda Bauermeister, saying the woman was considered legally age.
"Our clients were shocked by the complaint," Bauermeister said in a statement Wednesday. "Our clients believed the plaintiff was over 18 and did not know she would claim it 35 years later. He respected girls and women and his claims blinded him and his family."

Scott married his first wife at the time of the charge. He divorced in 2014.
The lawsuit also accuses Campbell Hall High School officials of not protecting the plaintiff. The lawsuit calls for a jury trial and $25,000 in losses, including lost income and attorney fees, to be paid by Scott and high school.
Scott is part of three Lakers titles. He spent 11 of 14 NBA seasons in the legendary organization, averaging 15.1 points, 3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
Scott also played for the Indiana Pacers and the then-Wanzhi Grizzlies.
