The former head of foreign policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, launched a bubble attack on Israel, accusing his government of committing genocide in Gaza and "has carried out the largest national cleansing operation to create an excellent vacation destination since the end of World War II."
Borrell, a former Spanish foreign minister who served as the EU's top diplomat from 2019 to 2024 and as president of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2007, also criticized the group's failure to use all means to influence Israel, saying that the expression of regret is not enough.
When he collected Charles v. European Prizes in front of aristocrats of Spain's King Felipe (including King Felipe) on Friday, Borrell said Israel suffered a terrorist attack in the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, which could not prove the terror it subsequently caused to Gaza.
He said in a special direct speech: “Since the end of World War II, we have faced the biggest ethnic cleansing action to create an excellent vacation destination once all millions of tons of rubble have been removed from Gaza and the Palestinians have died or disappeared.”
The former diplomat accused Israel of violating all conflict rules and using the hunger of Gaza civilians as a "weapon of war."
"The explosive power of Gaza against Gaza is three times that of Hiroshima bombs," he said. "For months, nothing has entered Gaza. Nothing has come into Gaza. Nothing: no water, no food, no electricity, no fuel, no medical services.
He added: "We all know what was going on there, we all heard what the minister of Netania said about the goal, which clearly demonstrated the statement of genocide intentions. I rarely hear the leaders of the country outlined such a clear outline of plans that fit the definition of genocide law."
Borrell continues to lead Europe to evade its moral and humanitarian responsibilities to Gaza.
“Europe has the ability and means to protest what is going on, and also has actions that affect (Israel),” he said. “But that’s not what we do. We provide half of the bombs that land in Gaza. If we really think too many people are dying, the natural response is to provide fewer weapons and use the leverage of the association’s agreement to demand respect for international humanitarian law rather than lamenting that it doesn’t happen.”
The veteran socialist politician also used his speech to reflect on the current geopolitical reality, which he called unprecedented. He said the post-1945 world order was demolished by Vladimir Putin, "the military failure of the tyrant in Ukraine made him even more dangerous", and Donald Trump was described as "the master of chaos who has gone from being an ally to an opponent."
The problem Europe faces is how it will respond without the protection it has provided long-term protection on the Atlantic Ocean, he added.

“To deal with this situation, we need to move from structural pacifism to a strong heavy state, but if we want to avoid wasting the old nation demons, we need to do that on a European scale,” Bowrell said. “We need to move from a comfortable and relaxed Atlanticism that delegates our security to the United States and establishes all sovereignty in Europe, which also means giving Europe a financial and security dimension.”
He said Europe is no longer a great driver or chronicle of world history.
"Today, history has become an imported product," Borrell added. "History is written by Russian soldiers, who marched towards Kiev in the early hours of February, and the Ukrainians who resisted resistance.
He continues, and history is now the story of technological competition between the United States and China. Borrell, in Trump's seemingly a sweep, added: "The historical faces today are those of Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Xi jinping. I'm not European. I know they - well, I know they're kind of - I can assure you that these three, two, are smarter than the third thing.
