Imagine: you're on a date and everything seems perfect until you're on a date to do something that makes you "iCk". This feeling of disgust occurs when the person you are dating does something you can’t ignore. In psychology, there is an idea that all emotions from fear to disgust have developed into favorable characteristics throughout human history. Here is the science behind “iCk”:
- 💔 If disgust is to keep people healthy, it will be seen in young children, says Josh Rottman, a psychology professor at Franklin and Marshall College. Instead, they began to think about "Cooties" around the same time.
- 💔Disgust has been used throughout history to create a feeling that some people are “impurity” or less than some people.
- 💔 The reaction to this feeling is almost instantaneous, and it is more intuitive than the conscious thought.
- 💔 It may be hard to shake the feeling of uneasiness, but next time you get iCk, consider if it's more than others.
