Football Manager on the Edge of Big Championship - Losing Job

This month, Ange Postecoglou, manager of British football club Tottenham Hotspur, blew his wife in the crowd on the grass in a small Norwegian stadium north of the Arctic Circle. Around him, the players and fans of the trek participated in the club's 142-year-old rare history: berths in the European Championship final.

Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium in north London, modern practice facilities and international fan base are compared to the biggest rivals in the British Premier League, the sport’s wealthiest league. However, its trophy case does not. The club has not won major trophys since 2008, nor has the major European Championships held since 1984. Its history is close, but European champions who failed to win both in domestic seasons and in parallel competitions have produced a derogatory description - "Spurs".

This drought may end soon. So, the tenure of the manager who brought them there was Postecoglou was OK.

Because when Tottenham won the Spanish Bilbao Manchester United against Manchester United in Norway, the club was in a strange position, i.e. on the brink of the trophy, long dreaming of ending a terrible season that would otherwise have rather forgotten.

This inconsistent contrast between Tottenham's poor Premier League season and the Europa League final - which secured Victor's place in the next season's Champions League (Europe's most prestigious club championship) and earned millions of dollars and brought in eligible income - reignited debates at the global Soviet and Global Soviet 11 levels to enable the global Soviet Union and whether it is able to save possecececogn save secececog.

“Winning the club’s first trophy in 17 years and its first European trophy in 41 years will be a hell of accomplishment that will turn him from the club’s worst manager statistics to their most successful and successful manager,” Tottenham long-time defeated football journalist Alasdair Gold told NBC News via email.

Gold believes that, but losing or losing on Wednesday, “seems an inevitable way.”

In the Premier League of 20 teams, the three most lagged teams are unceremoniously relegated to a lower division of the British football hierarchy, with the Spurs still one game left. (Their opponents, Manchester United, were 16 on Wednesday, stuck in a stumbling block in their own strange season.)

The injury has eliminated many Tottenham Hotspur’s best players. Going to the semifinals of the British Championship resulted in the loss of a team already on fresh legs. However, TV host Marcus Buckland hosted a popular podcast about the club, saying that the most "disastrous" domestic performances have exceeded injuries since the club began to follow them in the late 1970s.

"There is an incredible element of how bad the Spurs are," Buckland wrote.

"There are 21 defeats in the Premier League that are embarrassing and cannot be attributed entirely to the injury crisis in the three months of the campaign," Gold said. "On Wednesday night, a game will be taken for many to decide whether the pain is worth it."

This will be Buckland - there is a warning. The way to help the Europa League in the Europa League is promoted by the way forward, which should not be largely contrary to fewer resources and should not be confused with the foundations the club should continue to build.

"It's all about the silverware of supporters, so if they do win the Europa League, then all the others (in the short term) will be forgiven and the 2024-25 season will be considered a success, especially since Arsenal failed to win the trophy and Manchester United will remain in poverty," Buckland wrote via email. “That doesn’t mean the manager should keep his job.”

When Tottenham hired Postecoglou in 2023, it was a clear difference from his predecessors, whose predecessors included celebrity managers Mourinho and Antonio Conte, whose huge personality and title track record Tottenham hopes to disappear. Instead, everyone burned any goodwill in two years.

By contrast, Postecoglou is an Australian player, and aff and well-loved player who works hard in a low-key league.

He faced immediate doubts, his playing style won some trophy in his second season coaching in Australia, Japan and Scotland, which would fight wealthy Premier League rivals. The system is called "Angeball" and it actively drives scores even at the expense of fragile defense. His first Tottenham Hotspur was fifth in the league last season.

This season, despite a lot of injuries, Postecoglou continued to play according to his ideals without tuning the system to illustrate personnel, exacerbating the malfunctioning line between managers and club fans who first opened last season. Once, fans can be heard yelling from the stands, "You don't know what you're doing." In April, postecoglou lifted his ear into the direction of the fans after Tottenham scored a goal. Later, he tried to wave this explanation, saying he wanted to hear fans celebrate after “strike the target.”

Both Gold and Buckland said that despite the team's horrible injury luck being widely recognized, Postecoglou's collapse in communication with fans has contributed to the dissatisfaction this season. Still, given the club's history, if Tottenham wins the Europa League title, "I think it must" be eligible for a successful season.

"It will be a big moment for fans and clubs, but whether it becomes more than just a moment, and what changes the narrative around the club depends on what the Spurs are next and whether they invest and improve."

NBC sports analyst Robbie Mustoe said two hours of cruel results should be forgotten when Tottenham and Manchester United line up on Wednesday. Playing for the championship is rare and should be enjoyed.

Still, Mustoe admits: “I can’t separate from a horrible Premier League season and it’s risky at best, especially if you don’t have the best defender, especially reckless.”

“Can you imagine a success, a victory, a live celebration with fans there, a trophy lift, a manager who is really loved by the players, jumping up and down, a happy Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, celebrate this on Sunday, take an open bus in the New York City or North London area and then they open fire?” Mustoe said.

"When they finally get someone who gets them online, they get rid of him and say, 'I don't care, that's not good enough'? I think that would be harsh."

The question is, Tottenham's top executive Daniel Levy rarely talks to the media, how much value he will get from the trophy. The celebration scene in Norway on May 8 made the gold medal happier in the early days of Postecoglou’s tenure. “Things we don’t always see during some tough times that break down,” he said.

"I don't think my job is here. I want to see some growth," Postecoglou said Tuesday.
