First thing: Pakistan PM authorizes “corresponding actions” after India strike 26 | US News

Good morning.

India launched an attack on the "terrorist infrastructure" in nine locations within Pakistan, with at least 26 people, including several children, injured 46 people, a sharp escalation of hostilities between two nuclear-weapon neighbors.

Pakistan called the strike an "act of war" and claimed it shot down five Indian Air Force aircraft and a drone. Reuters reported that Pakistan's Prime Minister's Office Shehbaz Sharif said the country's armed forces have been authorized to take "corresponding actions".

India accused Pakistan of a raid on Indian tourists in Kashmir, India, of killing 26 people last month. "We are committed to taking on the promises of those who have this attack," the Indian Ministry of Defense said.

Israeli government ministers were accused of ethnic cleansing after vowing that “Gaza will be completely destroyed” and their Palestinian population will be "remained to third countries."

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's statement on Tuesday came a day after Israel's security cabinet approved the Gideon tank plan, an official said it meant "conquering the Gaza Strip and holdings of the territory".

The threat of Israel's permanent capture of control over the territory has aroused global outrage. UN Secretary-General António Guterres was "shocked" by the plan, a UN spokesman said on Monday. "The proposed military control aid mechanism by Israel is a dangerous attempt to bring humanitarian aid weapons, further control of Gaza and continue ethnic cleansing of Palestinians," said Stephen Cutts, head of interim medical assistance for Palestinians.

Trump says "we just want to be friends" because Canadian Prime Minister refuses 51st National Thought

Trump and Carney discuss U.S.-Canada relations at tense meeting - Video highlights

"We just want to be friends with Canada," Donald Trump said after meeting after the first general election with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who used the party to shoot down any prospects for Canada to become a part of the United States.

In the Oval Office, Trump praised Carney for being “the greatest political comeback ever” and described the Prime Minister’s visit as “honour” of the White House.

The friendly tone of Tuesday's meeting was in stark contrast to Trump's hostile rhetoric in recent months as he launched a trade war against his northern neighbors, demeaning Carney's predecessor Justin Trudeau and repeatedly threatening to smash Canada's economy with the purpose of annexing it.
