How did you feel after last night’s ceremony?
I'm a little sleepy. (laugh.) No, I feel really good. Of course it took a minute to sink, but we sat here overlooking the beach and it was so charming and friendly. I have to sit next to some people I respect and respect, and that is the most important of them. I'm really great.
I could see your table from the seat, you sat on a jury member such as Angelina Jolie, Quentin Tarantino, Jeremy Strong, Halle Berry and Juliette Binoche. Can you have a conversation with any of them?
I'm really good at finding people, so I made a psychological record and talked to at least five people. I think I've reached four. Once I came in, I saw a British musician and writer named Akala, so I shook his hands. Then I met a British writer-director named Molly Manning Walker and I thought he was great. After the speech, Jeremy Strong passed me and he said, "Congratulations." I told him I thought he was great, I was a fan. I also have to say goodbye to Angelina Jolie, and this is another one. It was a very amazing night, man. I had some good conversations. After the speech, it is a good time to relax. This is great when hard work pays off.
This work is on display in the editing reel. Are you the proudest scene or project?
It's always weird to watch myself on the camera, and I try to do as little as possible. But the first thing I did was a leftthere are some clips in it. I don't want to be self-sufficient, but it's a very proud moment for me. It starts everything. I had to work with a very talented director (Euros Lyn) and actors including Sarah Lancashire and Lia Williams who are now a very good friend. And I'm still working. Everything about what we are doing is great, but it's one of my proudest moments because it's a great show.
I imagined it was so good too warThis gives you this brand new actor brotherhood…
I still talk to those guys every day.
Is the text chain still there?
The text chain continues. A few guys congratulated me (this award), which felt really good. I'm shooting something right now and once I'm done I think the dinner or the show is to catch up with some guys.
What are you shooting?
I'm filming a TV show called Sky prisonerThis is a very, very good sleek thriller. I really like it. We are now shooting is coming to an end. Such a talented actor, a really talented performer and some great directors. I'm a support actor and I had the honor of watching two of our clues Tahar Rahim and Izuka Hoyle, and Izuka Hoyle, all put into practice every day. I work one day and I’m exhausted, but they do it every day and it’s something to crave for a day.
I saw the message Game of Thrones spin off, Knights of the Seven Kingdomswill now debut in 2026. I'm sure you'll be asked a lot of shows over the next few months, but would love to ask you some questions about this show. Are you a fan of the original series?
Yes, but I was late at the party. I've seen all Game of Thrones During lockdown.
Wow, very good. That was a good lock-in orgy.
Locking is obviously really painful, but at least I have Game of Thrones. A great thing about the performance - many fantasy performances are staggering - is a political view Rose War Setting between these great and noble houses, using such excellent European talent. I know there are some Americans out there, too, but this is mostly European actors, it was shot in Belfast or outside. Very good. I'm a big fan. I want to dragon dragon It is one of the best performances at present. I am so happy for the younger actors who lifted it up and had a good fight with older actors. Great, great European talent.
What came to mind when your agent, Bella Wingfield, called to audition?
I thought I had already set off. I thought I did such a terrible job in the audition and once I came out I called Bella and said, “That’s not good. She called the office of the cute actor Lucy Bevan and they said, “No, it’s all going well.” all the best. "I thought, of course, they would say that. I don't remember how long I waited, but I lay it on the bed more or less thinking I didn't get it. No chance. When I got the call, I couldn't believe it. war Already booked (my schedule), so I went to shoot the movie and ventured straight into Westeros.
What is Westeros' adventure like?
So interesting. I did the sword training and my favorite part sounded really boring, it was riding. I absolutely love it.
Have you ridden before?
No, never. Obviously, I don't have any stuntman benefits, but you do have a good skill. They would tell me that I could sit in the greenery from the horse, but I would take him around. It wasn't very fast, just slowly leading him around and talking to him. It was a great experience.
What's his name?
Xandor. He is a big dark horse. It looks scary, but the gentlest. Because they are trained within an inch of their life, they are the gentlest and kindest horses. They really take care of you when you’re in the saddle.
What else do you stand out about your experience shooting the series?
We filmed it in Belfast, where my family came from and I had to reconnect with a lot of families I had never seen before. They are from Newton Bay and Belfast. We met my dad’s old friend and he knew me when he said they were young men, so it was cool. I like being in Belfast. We had a great crew and really took care of us.
Has anyone given you any advice to prepare for what happens when you perform?
No, not very big. I slowly prepared myself, but I didn't expect it. If it didn't come, it wouldn't come. Hopefully I'm lucky to do something that will bring about this kind of reception. I just hope people like it. We work very, very hard. The clues are incredible, and performance host Ira Parker is just the great captain of the ship.
Have you read any daily newspapers while shooting?
No, no, no. When I do The real detectiveMy favorite thing is that our writer, director and performer Issa Lopez will take me to the monitor. She would say, "Kid, it's really annoying when you do this. Don't do that." It's a tiny piece of technology that I really like. I think if you look too much, you'll be excited. Then you start overthinking: "Why am I doing this?" or, "Why am I doing this? It looks silly!" I prefer to see it only when it is stringed together. Obviously, I see kind of doing ADR and everything. But I've seen some exciting stunts, which is fun. My stunts were great. Sure, he got all the credits, but I might tell me I am mine. (laugh.)
What you learned from working with Jodie Foster A real detective?
We had a three-week rehearsal period and I asked her what preparations should be made. That's what you do when you work with an incredible, incredible performer. She said, "What do you mean? Dance?" She meant: raise your head and take your work seriously. Learn your lines. Tap your mark. Take notes. Don't be too serious. You don't need to live in novels you created. I think some people do that and they get incredible performances from it. I'm not sure I'm one of them. I'd like to try that. But, in this regard, I have seven months to make myself happy. I learned to take this work seriously, but not myself.
After a night like last night, sitting on the French Riviera and seeing all the work you have done so far, have you considered where you want to go in your career starting here?
I just want to keep working. I'm lucky to work with the best people and I want to continue to do that. I want to continue making movies. I want to keep doing TV. I really want to do some drama. I try to go to the theater at least every week. It's a real test of your strength as an actor.
Have you seen anything that blows you up lately?
I saw Jonathan Bailey in Richard II and it was amazing. He is a good Richard II. He has all the nuances and it was amazing to see someone be able to make a joke centuries ago. I also love the retrograde at the Apollo Theatre, a show about Sidney Poitier. It all happened in a very long scene. A very outstanding, amazing three-handed man. Can't miss it.
The last question: I have to ask our master today, Shabbard. Tell me about the Shocked watch you are wearing today...
This is a beautiful watch. It comes from the classic series. I really like a belt and that rose gold. Very good, simple. Very elegant.
Before that, were you a jewelry person?
I love my jewelry. I have a small deck here, an Irish ring, and I took a nice necklace today. Shocked was very generous. Their event last night was very generous with all the talent in the room, they really care about the art, they really care about the movie. Not just jewelry. Maybe in a few years, if it still works, I'll buy the watch I wore last night.
