Filmax has gained international rights to “Mortimers,” a new family-friendly comedy adventure of Pokeepsie movies by Telecinco Cinema and Álexde la Iglesia. The film combines mystery, horror and dark humor, tells the story of five teenagers discovering jewelry theft in a cemetery.
Cleverly called "Mortimers" in Spanish, "Los Muertimer" is adapted from the best-selling French comic trilogy "Les Croques" by illustrator Léa Mazé, who was awarded the Best Children's Comics Award in 2018 by the French News Journalist and Comic Book for Best Children's Comics.
The plot centers on Nico, a 15-year-old lonely man who was bullied at school due to his parents' funeral. Through the cultural exchange program, he met a rebellious French girl, Gabi. Their friendship is unlikely to lead them, and three Nico's tormentors conduct a dark investigation after discovering a hidden body and stolen jewelry.
Directly by Álvaro Fernández-aarmero ("had an affair", "if I had money"), the film's feauriding will include Víctor Clavijo ("Wait"), Alexandra Jiménez ("100m"), Fele Martinez ("100m"). Stars like Diego and Iratxe Emparan.

Pokeepsie Film CEO Carolina Bangandálex de la Iglesia also expressed excitement, "Thanks to Telecinco Cinema for the trust and the talent of Álvaro Fernández-Armero to enjoy with our children. This is our first step towards a family-wide film."
The head of Filmax International Ivan Diaz added: "The Gothic comedy genre in the past has given us huge hits like 'Addams Family', 'Beetlejuice' and more recently 'Wednesday'. The purpose of this film is to continue to update this popular genre, which is loved by the public and filmmakers, such as one of the greatest representatives of Spanish black comedy."
"Mortimers" will premiere in Spain on August 14 and will be distributed by Paramount. The first scene of the film will be on display in the Marché Du film at the Cannes Film Festival.
