Senator John Fetterman praised President Donald Trump for his policies in the Middle East on Monday.
In the Senate Project Series discussion, organized by Edward M. Kennedy’s U.S. Senate and Orrin G. Hatch Foundation, co-chaired by Fox Nation and his Pennsylvania Senator Sen. Dave McCormick, discusses key issues affecting Americans.
Among these themes, conflict in the Middle East is the main theme, as senators from both parties find their support for Israel less common. Fettman admitted that he was the only Democrat willing to acknowledge Trump's success in the Middle East.
"I really don't allow political disagreement with Iran's initial agreement," Fettman said.

Trump ended the United States and Iran's joint comprehensive action plan (JCPOA) and imposed re-engineered sanctions on them in 2018. As a Democrat, Fettman said supporting Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran deal is politically unpopular.

"I do think that now, Trump has done the right thing to break this deal," Fetterman, who now abandons the Democratic script, admitted on Monday.
Fetterman told Washington Free Beacon in April that the Trump administration should destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities through military strikes. The host of the event, Shannon Bream of Fox Newsthe anchor of Fox News Sunday asked Fettman about his comments at an event in Boston, Massachusetts Monday.

"Iran attacked Israel and it was obvious that they lacked the ability to really project this way - and then Israel repelled and destroyed the batteries that protected their nuclear facilities, and they hit the nuclear laboratory as well. So now, Israel knows that we have a window here to attack this window."
Pennsylvania Democrats said his party was reluctant to have nuanced dialogue about how the U.S. conflicts in the Middle East.
“I think the generation that destroyed the facility was once a generation,” Fettman said.

Fettman also praised Trump for transferring the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem during the first administration.
"This is definitely the only person left in the Democratic caucus that I'm really the only one left on that kind of thing," Fettman said.

"When Trump changed the embassy to Jerusalem, people thought... the area was going to burn. I mean, none of this happened... something good happened there."
Fetterman is the only Democratic senator willing to meet with Trump before the inauguration and has been firmly in favor of Israel, one of several instances in which Fetterman succumbed to his own party.
