Fantasy Baseball Close Report: Justin Martinez

In this week's closed report, Jeff Hoffman and Ryan Walker are working to keep the lineup up close. Who has the greatest risk of losing a close-range role? In New York, Luke Weaver put things down in the ninth inning. The Rattlesnake may soon bring Justin Martinez back.

Fantasy baseball is closer to ranking

Level 1: On the top

Andrés Muñoz - Seattle Mariners
Mason Miller - Track and Field
Josh Hard - Houston Astronaut

Muñoz made a future run against the Yankees on Tuesday in the ninth inning and was accused of being saved. Nevertheless, in 19 innings he scored 15-15 in 15 with a ratio of 0.00 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 26/8 k/bb.

After four days without pitching, Miller had the chance to make a five-point save against the Yankees last Saturday. He gave up a game in ninth and hit four batsmen to complete his 11th save. In 15 1/3 innings, the spectacular 30/6 k/bb ratio makes him one of the highest closers to the game, putting him at the top of the rankings.

Hard locked in his tenth save of the season in a win over the Royals on Wednesday, taking a step and hitting a batsman. The 31-year-old lefty has an excellent 1.89 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and has a 27/5 K/BB ratio in the 19 innings.

Level 2: Elite

Robert Suarez - Santiago Priestes
Tanner Scott - Los Angeles Dodgers
Joan Duran - Minnesota Twins
Félix Bautista - Baltimore Orioles
Edwin Díaz - Metropolitan New York

Suarez gave up five runs on four walks on Monday and beat the Angels on Monday against the Angels. He rebounded against the Angels on Wednesday, hitting two games in a clean job in non-preservation situations.

Scott rolled on the mound and was allowed to run only once in his last 16 outings since April 1. His ninth save against the Diamondbacks on May 9, the Dodgers' last savings.

Duran is excellent and is a valuable part of Minnesota's winning streak in May. The 27-year-old right-hander scored six saves this month and won after recording just 2 saves throughout April’s savings. Duran has an incredible ratio of 0.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 25/9 K/BB in 21 1/3 innings.

Bautista's final savings also appeared in a perfect match on May 9, hitting out two strikeouts against the Angels. Then, two days later, he gave up a solo home run on non-save situations. This is his first run since March 31. The 29-year-old right-hander gave up another run on Friday, losing to the Nationals. Still, he maintains a great ratio of 2.77 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 15/8 K/BB.

Díaz has no scores for up to seven consecutive times. He scored his ninth save of the season against the Buccaneers on Tuesday and beat the batsman with no-scoring efforts.

Layer 3: Reliable Choice

Emmanuel Class - Guardian of Cleveland
Ryan Hullsley - St. Louis Cardinals
Luke Weaver - New York Yankees
Jeff Hoffman - Toronto Blue Jays
Pete Fairbanks - Tampa Bay Light
Raisel Iglesias-Atlanta Braves
Jose Alvarado/Jordan Romano-Philadelphia
Trevor Megill - Milwaukee Brewers
Aroldis Chapman-Boston Red Sox
Will belong - Detroit Tiger

Clase hit the winemakers twice on Tuesday's ninth save against the Brewers. The 27-year-old right-hander is gaining some trust and failing to win the run in his last five games. All the underlying metrics suggest we should continue to see Clase Chip leave and improve his 4.91 ERA in the season.

It was Hullsley’s eighth outing since April 1, Hullsley’s eighth outing, which hit the Phillies twice on Sunday. This is Hullsley's first outing since April 1. Although he did a great job, he did a great job in 15 innings but gave him a 1.53 whip and a 16/10 k/bb ratio in 15 innings.

The day after hitting three batsmen in two perfect innings in non-cycling situations, Weaver defeated the Mariners on Wednesday’s fourth save against the Mariners before finishing fifth in his fifth game against the Mets on Friday. The 31-year-old right-hander was very effective and released a ratio of 0.44 ERA, 0.59 WHIP and 22/6 K/BB in 20 1/3 innings. Devin Williams has made four appearances since giving up three games against Padres on May 5 but continues to operate with set-up roles.

Another tough reliefist, Hoffman won his second explosion after giving up five runs and recording a game against the Rays on Tuesday. During his last five outings, 11 runs are now available. Basic skills show that Hoffman should be able to get back on track. He will have the opportunity to do so in Toronto.

Fairbanks have never seen any chance of province since May 4. He won numerous innings against the winemakers last Sunday before giving up two runs in a non-cycling situation against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Iglesias allowed a little hit in four runs in three outings before recovering in a no-brainer against the Nationals on Thursday. He then gave up on Friday's game against the Red Sox but insisted on his eighth save. Home run issues resulted in the 31-year-old's right hand 5.89 ERA in 18 1/3 innings.

Romano, along with the Phillies, made seven consecutive seven-point-less suburban saves. He took two of his last three saves on five strikeouts on two perfect innings. Alvarado stepped in to the final two games, his seventh save against the Buccaneers on Friday, and remains his top pick for savings in Philadelphia.

Megill only made his fifth save against the Rays this Sunday last Sunday. Savings didn’t come for the brewers. Still, the 31-year-old right-hander has been solid, posting a 2.92 ERA, 1.30 whip and 15/7 K/BB ratio in 12 1/3 innings.

Chapman scored his sixth save last Sunday against the Royals. He then lost in a game against the Tigers on Wednesday. The 37-year-old left-handed performed well, recording a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 whip and 22/6 K/BB ratio in 16 innings.

Vest has abandoned seven innings since giving up three runs on April 29. He has always been the most effective rescuer in the Detroit bullpen, the most prototype close-up. The 29-year-old right-hander posted a 1.80 ERA, 1.05 whip and 23/7 K/BB ratio in 20 innings. Meanwhile, Tommy Kahnle's last six outings were in the eighth inning. Although AJ Hinch can still play occasionally, Vest can operate the path as it is primarily approaching for the rest of the season.

Level 4: Save here

Kyle Finnegan - Washington National
Ryan Walker - San Francisco Giants
Emilio Pagan -Cincinnati Reds
Kenley Jansen - Angel of Los Angeles
Carlos Esteves - Kansas City Royals
Shelby Miller/Kevin Ginkel-Arizona Rattlesnake
David Bednar/Dennis Santana – Pittsburgh
Luke Jackson - Texas Rangers
Porter Hodge/Ryan Pressly – Chicago Cubs

Finnegan locked in a pair of non-office savings on Wednesday and Friday. The 33-year-old right-hander scored 14 saves in 16 2/3 innings with a ratio of 2.70 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 17/7 K/BB.

Walker's contradiction continues. He made a sensation on Sunday’s saves and losses to the twins before taking two walks in a no-branch against the Rattlers on Wednesday. Although Bob Melvin has been heading to his 29-year-old right hand in the ninth inning, it's hard to imagine that he didn't have a hot seat with a strong 1.31 ERA in the 19 2/3 innings.

The Pagans gave up three games against the White Sox on Tuesday before bounced against the Guardians with his tenth save on Friday. Although Tony Santillan excels in the set role, none of the challenging pagans save money in Cincinnati.

Jansen gave up on two runs but didn't record it and lost against Padres on Tuesday. The 37-year-old veteran will have some inconsistencies. He rebounded on Friday in an outing without scoring in a non-record situation against the Dodgers.

Last week, Estévez made three scoreless appearances last week. He scored his 12th save with a strikeout against the Astros on Monday with no score. The 32-year-old right-hander had a ratio of 2.29 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 18/10 K/BB in 19 2/3 innings.

Miller offers the last two savings for the Rattlesnake. He gave up a run after a strikeout against the Giants on Monday, throwing out an inning on a three-point shooting percentage, and then stuck to his third save in San Francisco on Wednesday. Miller helped fill the role in the ninth inning with Justin Martinez and AJ PUK on the injury list. Despite the longer-term injury of PUK, Martinez will pitch in a minor league recovery game in the Arizona Major League on Saturday and can be prepared to return sometime next week if everything goes well.

No matter who pitches in the ninth inning, the Pirates situation is not a fruitful situation. Santana's only savings in May as the team adopted a showdown-based approach to late innings. While Santana has better surface statistics to date, Bednar flickered better skills and strikeout caps.

Jackson made a comeback after being hit on the first court thrown on Monday. The X-rays have no cracks and the 33-year-old right-hander will avoid injury list after sitting for a few days. Chris Martin has also been eliminated for an elbow injury this week, but he should be open in the next few days after getting a clean MRI. Shawn Armstrong recorded two saves this week, filling out for Jackson and Martin.

Pressly's final three appearances appeared in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings after eight games against the Giants on May 6. He dropped eighth place on Friday with a seven-shot lead. Hodge may have a chance to play a closer role, but he himself struggles with some contradictions. He gave up three games and lost the game against the Mets on Sunday before hitting two on Wednesday against the Marlins.

Layer 5: Bottom of the barrel

Jesus Tinoco - Miami Marlin
Zach Agnos-Colorado Rockies
Steven Wilson/Cam Booster – Chicago White Sox

Rising/Hidding Candidate Relief

Toronto's Brendon Little has performed well with the Blue Jays' high leverage. The 28-year-old lefty led the team with 8 holdings while recording a 1.77 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 31/10 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings. Despite the lack of top speeds, in 93 mph fastballs, few elites lacking bats have caused all reliefers to fall behind the devastating knuckle curve at a swaying speed. While he has a great addition to the Hold and Points League, whether Jeff Hoffman’s struggle continues, as he isn’t the only left-handed reliefist in the bullpen, it’s nearly impossible to watch. In Seattle, Matt Brash was once considered one of the best emerging future lockers and then missed the 2024 season with Tommy John's surgery. He returned four appearances, where he was in the setting role behind Andrés Muñoz, recording two strikeouts in the eighth inning against the Yankees on Tuesday.
