ESPN analysts send ominous information about the Yankees $90 million

If the New York Yankees want any advice on resetting the career of two-time batting champion DJ Lemahieu, ESPN's long-time analyst Tim Kurkjian is in the third line.

Kurkjian doesn't have much faith in his own admission, joining the Yankees this week on a long list of injuries. After years of Yankee infield bounce, Lemahieu should see most of his moves going on second base – at least until the All-Star Slugger Jazz Chisholm returns from his right-tilt strain.

Oswaldo Cabrera's severe ankle injury also made Lemahieu a full-time third baseman again, who last played in the role in 2023.

"He's been a few years now, and I'm not sure what it is, but I'll try … to see if it would help to play him in the same position," Cookian said.

Kurkjian explained that the key no longer uses Lemahieu as a utility player. Lemahiu often played second base for the Colorado Rockies in his seven Yankees seasons, and his time regularly separates his time in seven seasons with his seven Yankees.

Lemahieu played 38 games in first base last year and 36 games in third base, providing career-worst .204 and -1.6 Bwar in the process.

"Now, do I think this will bring him back to his former glory?" Cookjian asked. "No, I don't, but I think it's worth a try."

This may not be the most reassuring opinion for Yankees fans, especially before the highly anticipated Metro series showdown with rival New York Mets. At least Kurkjian admits that Lemahieu, who hit .336 with 8.6 Bwar and 2019-20-20, has long ceased to exist.

Yankees keep lemaheiu at third base not Impossible. Alternate infielders Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas offer the versatility they need, and Peraza has seen the action in every infield position, but first 23 games.

Lemahieu counted six years to the last two games this week against the Seattle Mariners, and the $90 million contract was penultimate.
