Review: Testimony on the fifth day

As we wait for the trial to begin today, here is a review of four things jurors heard on Monday:

  1. Erin's estranged husband Simon denied asking her, "Is that something you used to poison them?" In the days after the deadly mushroom lunch. The court heard that he allegedly referred to the food dehydrator, although there was no clarification on who was mentioned by "they".

  2. According to her online friend Daniela Barkley, the court showed the court a message Erin wrote in 2023. It reads: "I've been hiding mushrooms in everything. I've mixed it into chocolate brownies yesterday, and the kids don't know."

  3. One of Erin's Facebook friends recalled her description of her estranged husband Simon as "compulsive" and her parents-in-law were "hard". The three Facebook friends who provided the evidence did not meet in person, but communicated through online real crime teams, online chat and phone calls.

  4. Christine Hunt said the same witness said Erin was "respected" in the Facebook group and was known as a good researcher, describing her as a "super detective."
