Eric Hosmer criticizes Craig Breslow for Rafael Devers

Of all members of Major League Baseball, a storyline takes over the headlines. In the first base question, the front of the Boston Red Sox is called around Rafael Devers, a continuous drama.

The Red Sox have been looking for a new first baseman after the injury of Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas. The designated batsman Devers was asked if he would try to play at first base. He refused, and the drama followed.

Former Red Sox first baseman and MLB veteran Eric Hosmer called on the front desk in Boston in an ongoing drama. In a post on X about fans of Aaron Judge and Bryce Harper’s learning of new positions, Hosmer defended Devers and summoned Red Sox.

"(Craig) Breslow asked Devers to cover up his mistakes (the lack of depth in the position of lack of injury history on your roster), in his position of taking Rafi out of his two weeks of spring training ... in his spring training," Hosmer said.

His criticism of Breslow and the front desk did not stop there. Hosmer went on to call up the Red Sox and decided not to try first base for its top prospect.

The judge and Harper have time to prepare, and their organization works with them on the switch, just as the players promised contracts that all of these players promised.

"...but,' introduces the new variable to you two of the highest prospects in AAA, one league prioritizes development when both were not proven in minor leagues and trying to find any way to crack this current lineup."

Hosmer's complaints revolve around the Red Sox's decision to not try Roma Anthony or Marcelo Mayer at first base in case of Casas' injury. Both are behind veterans in the roster and if they transition to first base they can get into the major league roster.

Finally, Hosmer completed his strong call to Breslow with information on how to treat devers. Hosmer backed off, defending him in the decision to pay other players and reshape the roster.

"Rafi kept watching them paying someone else to replace the core he had won, and some fans really wonder why he was angry? That's why Cora basically told Breslow 'You got this bud.'"

The Red Sox's first base loophole had a major problem with their first base loophole for the rest of the 2025 season. Something needs to be changed, especially at such a disappointing start.

Whether it's finding a new first baseman or making a radical change to the roster, the Red Sox can't stay like all the drama around the team.

Hosmer's call to the group isn't the only one who pays attention to the Red Sox building. The fans were angry and Devers even expressed his frustration.

As the drama goes up, Breslow and the Red Sox have to make changes before things get too out of control. This is a difficult position and needs to be changed.
