After a disappointing 39-36-7 season, New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette has emerged from winning the president for a year.
Since taking over in 2021, Rovers General Manager Chris Drury has experienced three coaches.
Despite the open hiring for the first time NHL coaching, Drury is believed to be willing to be the verified winner after the contract with the franchise was extended.
In this case, it is generally expected that the Rangers will be the next head coach of former Pittsburgh Penguins and two-time Stanley Cup champion Mike Sullivan.
Elliotte Friedman said in Monday's "32 Thoughts" podcast that he would be "shocked" if the two-time champion wasn't behind the Rangers' bench.
"They have to fix this right," Friedman said. "I would be shocked if he wasn't their guy."
"I would be shocked if he wasn't their guy, unless for some reason he didn't want to go there, if he wasn't their guy, I would be shocked" Friedman said on Mike Sullivan/Neal (32TP)

"What happens to Sullivan? I just don't know you're the New York Ranger and you allow anyone to take Sullivan off the clutch," Friedman said.
One of the loudest sounds predicting the Sullivan Cavalry pairing is former defensive player PK Subban.

On ESPN, Subban ranked New York as the best destination for Sullivan, ranking them in the Boston Bruins, the Anaheim Ducks, the Philadelphia Flyers and Seattle Clake.
"First (destination), we're going to Tri-State: New York Rangers," Subban said. "For me, this is a Stanley Cup team. They're going to adjust this roster. Chris Drury will adjust this roster this summer. He's going to bring them back where they need it.
“With the right coach, this team can win the Stanley Cup.”
Penguin dismissed Sullivan on Monday after nearly a decade in charge.
Despite being the most winning coach in franchise history and winning the Cup in 2016 and 2017, failing to make the playoffs for three consecutive seasons has made his fate.
Still, his stock is high and there are multiple head coach franchises expected.
"There are other teams that will call," Friedman said. "I just can't see the ranger who can get himself beaten by Mike Sullivan."
