Elizabeth on the main cliff

Elizabeth Banks believes that her new murder frenzy show, Better Sister, has something in common with Shakespeare.

“I feel like the whole effort is like a tragedy in Greece,” Banks said during the “Best Sister” FYC event. typeEmily Longeretta before the show May 29 Prime Video Premiere. "This has all the elements that Shakespeare is writing about. We have these sisters sharing the same husband, we have already had the murdered corpse () we let the son live in the shadow of his father."

According to Alafair Burke's 2019 novel, "Best Sister" follows estranged sisters Nick (Banks) and Chloe (Jessica Biel), who find their lives forced to get back together after Chloe's lawyer husband Adam (Corey Stoll). The cast is surrounded by Maxwell Acee, Gabriel Sloyer, Kim Dickens and Bobby Naderi.

For all the shows about the sorority, finding the right woman to play Nick and Chloe is key. Joint protester and executive producer Olivia Milch recalls the long casting process after they first put Banks and Biel’s faces on each other.

"We think, are we geniuses? I mean, it's incredible," Milch said. "It's incredible, but it has to be that kind of alchemy. It must be true."

While both the Bank and Bell read Burke’s novel immediately, Bell also recalls how helpful it was to all eight scripts prepared to read during the actor discussion. This helped her to really understand Nicky and Chloe's dynamics.

"You don't usually understand that," Bell said. "Often you might read one or maybe have nothing, and then you have to do some publicity about what's going to happen. It's very different. It's all laid out, so you can really, go ahead, okay. I know what this is."

Beyond the two sisters, "Best Sister" also has a larger ensemble cast, wrapped in a murder mystery. For co-protester and executive producer Regina Corrado, the “dysfunction” of the central alcohol family has attracted her story.

“I found it very interesting to create characters that have every aspect of each personality that was born and reproduced in these environments,” Corrado said. “If you look at these guys objectively, you find that they fall into these categories: rescuers, chaos.”

In addition to the basic themes of family and deception, banks want to attract audiences.

"I hope people are excited," Banks said. "The cliffs are on the cliffs! They are so juicy and nice, surprisingly. I love that everyone is suspicious, so if you're happy, all the other things we're doing are stickers."
