After winning Best New Artist at last year’s Latin Grammy Awards, Ela Taubert consolidates herself as one of the main pop girls in Latin music. Columbia's pink head invention star is drawing inspiration from one of her idols, Taylor Swift, and transforming her personal love and painful stories into her debut album and turning her personal stories into female songs The question of 11:11will be released on May 9th. Taubert worked with Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and popular mastermind Max Martin to expand her coverage beyond the Latin market.
“Winning the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist is one of the cool things that happened to me,” Taubert told. Rolling stones. "That moment symbolizes the hard work I have done in this profession and the many people who support me like my fans. It's a mix of many special things for me. I always say that dreams come true."
Taubert was born in Bogota, Colombia in 2000. She admits that becoming a pop star has been her lifelong dream since she was a child. Taubert also proudly called herself Swiftie and grew up on her music of regret. "Taylor was one of the earliest artists to show me how to write songs," Taubert said. "She inspired music that I could come from the heart. I thought to myself, 'If she could do that with her own music, I could do it too.' She motivated me and continued to motivate me to keep moving forward and dream big."
Like Swift, Taubert is known for making his heartbreak and adversity moments to boost power popularity, especially in the 2023 EP Who said it was easy?. Last year, her breakthrough took a hit, with anxiety-driven "Cómo Pasó?" above, she opened up a breakup, putting her into chaos. The heartbreaking national anthem won over 188 million rivers on Spotify. Weeks after the song's release, Colombian superstar Karol G invited Taubert to the opening ceremony of her tour in Mañana Será Bonito in Bogota.
"I'm not tired of saying that Carol is one of the most incredible women in the industry that I'm lucky enough to know closely," said Taubert. "She was the first person to open the door to the universe for me and gave me a hand to be able to grow and learn from her. I love her so much that she always has a place in my heart."
Karol G stood up and clapped for Taubert when she won Best New Artist at the Latin Grammy Awards last November. At the awards ceremony, the singer-songwriter also joined Joe Jonas' most unexpected performance of the night to perform the Spanish version of "»chomopasó?". Taubert calls it the full circle moment after singing with Demi Lovato and Jonas.
"Seeing and hearing him sing'»cómoPasó? It was one of the most unreal moments of my life," Taubert said. "It was so beautiful to see how Joe was put into the song, and all the love and care he put into it. Because of my first collaboration with Joe in my career, it was very special and incredible."
The question of 11:11 Pull out of the pop girl's voice in front of Taubert. The playful "imagination?" About the mistakes of reflecting on her past, reminiscent of the 2000s Britney Spears, the meditative "«Trato Hecho?" sounds like the production of Avril Lavigne and Matrix, and the powerful "Quiénsoysoy para juzgar?" recalls Katy Perry's One of the boys era. Taubert also attacked the countryside in the "?paraqué?" of the seat, like Swift. She kicked her ex to the side of the road.
“I’ve been in love with pop since I was a little girl,” she said. “There are a lot of genres in pop that can be explored, and this album is an example. There’s rock, there’s country, the way Britney is, the way Taylor is, I explore all of that and do it all in a way that represents me as Latina and my inner child, hoping to be a pop singer someday.”
Taubert's album has another special connection to the aforementioned Divas: Max Martin. The iconic hot maker made the synth popular banger "Serio?" with his longtime collaborators Rami and Taubert's right-hand Kevn. She revealed that Ramy's initial mission was to work with them to produce the song, but Martin decided to attend their meeting and increase his opinion. Taubert is excited to know that Martin and Rammy work with all her favorite artists.
"I went to the bathroom because I wrote a song with Max and Rammy, and they were my idols," Taubert admitted. "If you don't care about you being a small artist or a large artist, they put the same attention and care in the songs they are working on. I'm treating them with the way they treat us and see how they work up close, that's the next level."
When Taubert made the final blow to her album Johann Vera, Ecuadorian singer, he filmed one of her solo songs. After covering up his queer identity for nearly a decade, he decided to churn in a "closet" last August. Taubert is one of the co-writers of Vera’s songs, not only his national anthem, but also the LGBTQ+ community. Like Karol G, he was arrested for cheering for Taubert when she won Best New Artist.
"When I first heard 'closet', I cried and knew there were a lot of people going through John's experience," she said. "I knew that song changed his life and the lives of many others. I felt like the LGBTQ+ community really embraced the song and I loved them all my heart."
As for the next The question of 11:11. On July 12, she will also perform in New York City as part of the Summerstage in the LAMC Central Park concert series. At the next stage of her career, what matters most to her is continuing to connect with people through her music. "I want to continue to win more hearts," she said. "I know there are people who are related to my music, and I'm so happy that I want them to know that I'm here to serve them. They can always find shelter in songs I write."
