Dozens of illegal immigrants dragged out of construction sites in Florida

Immigration authorities announced Tuesday that they have arrested more than two dozen illegal foreigners at construction sites in Florida.

According to an X post from Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) Tampa (HSI), the attack took place in Wildwood, Florida, in Wildwood, Florida.

Wildwood is a city in Sumter County, located about an hour northwest of Orlando.

According to the Post, the illegal immigrants arrested during the operation came from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.

A video shared by HSI TAMPA shows authorities passing through the community of newly built houses.

Although the video did not show any arrests, the photos posted by HSI TAMPA appear to show an arrest on a construction site in Wildwood.

Officials said some illegal immigrants had been deported before, although it is not clear whether any foreigner had been arrested or convicted before.

The total number of arrests has not been released.

HSI Tampa said in another article that the agency “works to determine whether construction companies in the fastest growing regions of the United States are hiring illegal foreigners (and) violating federal immigration laws.”

After the raid Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced this week that more than 100 FHP soldiers were sworn in as U.S. marshals, allowing them to enforce immigration laws independent of the federal government.

“We are glad we have made tremendous progress on the legal enforcement of law against illegal immigration,” Governor DeSantis said in a press conference on Monday. “No country is doing anything, even close to what Florida is doing…what we have been doing is not only effective, but it is indeed a model for the rest of the country.”

He added that when he first became governor, Florida allowed the city of Sanctuary.

"When Joe Biden took office in early 2021, it really became difficult because he was basically running on a campaign that didn't execute the border," Governor DeSantis continued. "Obviously, there must be rules of the road. Obviously, our people have the right to determine who comes in or who hasn't entered our country. Obviously, you have to enforce these rules so that people realize you are not punished."

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Ice and Miami Ice Vehicles did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News digital numbers.
