Before Trump took office, the American International Service Administrator was Mina Hsiang. After her departure, Ted Carstensen was the highest legacy USDS leader, but he resigned from the organization on February 6.
“After Ted resigned, we have not received any letters for the head of the organization,” said the current USDS employee, who requested anonymity due to fear of revenge.
Some people have had a link with USDS View Amy Gleason, a former USDS official who served in the first Trump administration as a liaison between traditional USDS, Doge and other agencies, but to her official The characters know very little. Steve Davis is a longtime Musk assistant, president of the boring company, and he is another name, the official leading governor. Davis has worked with Musk for many years and led the billionaire’s cost-cutting efforts when he took over Twitter in 2022. Davis slept at Twitter headquarters with his wife Nicole Hollander and their children. (Hollander is now a senior general service management officer.)
A former USDS employee told Wired: "Steve Davis has been articulated as the leader of Doge, but when I asked him if he was an administrator, (the manager) Say we don't know." "When I asked him if he was a temporary administrator, they said we don't know. They said Brad Smith (the healthcare business with connections to Davis) Home) holds staff positions. ”
Meanwhile, dozens of them have been fired as USDS employees are trying to figure out who is running their agents. About five of the USDS's approximately 200 employees were fired Friday. Sources told Wired that the product manager, designer and members of the talent team were hit hardest along with some engineers.
"There is no rhyme or reason. Literally, in the middle of work," another source said of the shooting on Friday night. “There are many of us.”
"I heard that our USD (Estate) directors have not received any kind of listing or reason for the purpose of ending emails sent Friday night," another source at the agency said.
Last week, multiple agencies were shocked by sudden layoffs. Dozens of Consumer Financial Protection Agency employees were fired after receiving emails and role emails. A former CFPB official told Wired that later this week, the entire CFPB team responsible for investigating large technologies was terminated. After the CFPB opened fire, other agencies, including the General Services Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Energy, terminated thousands of workers.
The White House did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Although Musk's Governor-General workers took over USD last month, few traditional employees interacted with their new colleagues. Earlier this month, Wired reported that Doge built a "firewall" that separates Musk's team from other employees in the organization. The only time the Legacy staff met with Doge's representative was with Stephanie Holmes on February 1, who identified themselves as the team's new HR staff.
The only other experience with the Legacy USDS staff and Doge employees was their one-on-one interview with Doge affiliate engineers who refused to identify themselves in the first week of the Trump administration.
