Donald Trump 'Ambassador' Mel Gibson sets Italian Film Treaty Proposal

Italian producer Andrea Iervolino (Modì, on the crazy wings for three days) proposed a proposal on a joint U.S.-Italy deal on Tuesday, and they said they had agreed with the Hollywood president’s “special ambassador” Mel Gibson to “act as a 'pilot program' of similar treaties between the United States and the rest of the world.”

A statement said the proposed agreement called for “inspiring Italian producers to make Italian films in the United States, involving American stars, to invest in the United States.” It also suggests that the Italian government has launched a “promoted program to strengthen the production of cultural ties between Italy and the United States.”

Gibson and Iervolino were unable to comment immediately.

Like Trump, Iervolino's statement is known for being less modest, citing the "estimation" that the global adoption of the model may generate up to $10 billion in revenue per year in U.S. direct investment, but does not cite the sources of these estimates.

"The world must recognize that the U.S. entertainment industry has been the world's leading entertainment industry: it remains the main point of reference, able to formulate global industry rules," the Italian producer said. "At the same time, many countries have established incentive programs to attract foreign production and signed bilateral agreements with various countries, but have never been with the United States. This essentially makes a crucial cultural bridge that has not yet been resolved."

In a bullish tone, Ivellino concluded: “So, a win-win agreement must be reached in the United States and the rest of the world. Mel Gibson and I are actively working in this direction,” hoping that the proposed agreement can be inspired by the rest of the world.

When Trump released "Social in Truth" early this year, he surprised the world with a new "ambassador" for Hollywood - Gibson, Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone are the "eyes and ears" of presidents in the entertainment industry. "They will be my special envoy, with the goal of bringing Hollywood to Hollywood in the past four years, and to abroad, and back to foreign countries, bigger, bigger, and stronger than ever!" Trump released a few days before his inauguration.

Ivelino mentioned on Tuesday the goal was to formally sign a joint production agreement at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, so it said: "The most authoritative representative of the government and its respective ecosystems." It marked the goal as the first Italy, and then the world said: "This could be a turning point in global cinema history, a turning point in global cinema history that brings success and growth to all participating countries."

Iervolino did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.
