Trump had previously joked that he hoped to be the next pope after Pope Francis died on April 21.
Trump told reporters outside the White House on Tuesday, April 29: "I want to be the pope. That would be my first choice. Then, he added more seriously: "No, I don't know, I don't have a preference." Last August, Trump released a series of AI-generated images, falsely claiming that Taylor Swift recognized him as president. Later that month, Trump shared a photo taken, portraying himself and others as DC superhero characters, like Trump, Superman, with JD Vance playing Batman and Batman and Elon Musk, a part of the human/part-robot.
