Jalen Ramsey of the Miami Dolphins is in the trade neighborhood and both sides agree to split the way, it's just a matter of time to make a deal. Although Ramsey is still a dolphin, his future in New Jersey is not far away.
For Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, he finally shared his thoughts on losing his all-round and potential future Hall of Fame member in Ramsey.
Weaver commented on Ramsey's departure from the dolphin and how he approached his work in an article by C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald.
"Things changed in this game. I have a lot of respect for Ramsey. He played a good ball to us, but it was hard to connect with people. Both sides chose each other and I respect that. I respect that and wish him the best."
The loss of Ramsey will be a challenge for the Dolphins. During his outstanding NFL career, Ramsey has been named three-time All-Pro and seven times a professional bowler.
Between time with Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams and Dolphins, Rams had 24 interceptions and 108 pass breakups. He also allowed the quarterback passer rating to be 76.5 when he targeted.
In Miami, Ramsey was named a Pro Bowl in 2023, and his 2024 season was his first year since 2019.
Before the 2024 season, the Dolphins gave Ramsey three years, costing $72.1 million. But less than a year later, Ramsey is about to go out. Weaver acknowledges the challenges he will face, but he doesn't want to show sympathy for his situation.
"I didn't get any sympathy cards from anyone. It's my job, as an employee, and our job is to find ways to make these pieces work. What I know is that every player here is trying to get better and has purchased."
The Dolphins’ new exterior room will feature Storm Duck, Kader Kohou, Artie Burns, Cam Smith, Jason Marshall Jr., Kendall Sheffield, Isaiah Johnson, Ethan Bonner and Jason Maitre.
While a full upgrade is required, the Dolphins have been linked to multiple free agent cornerbacks such as Rasul Douglas and Asante Samuel Jr.
Whether anyone is added or not, Weaver is ready to face the challenge and will find a way to make the most of the work in the cornerback room they have.
