Detroit Pistons’ three 2025 draft needs, who can fill them
Play

The NBA Draft Lottery brought more drama on May 12 than usual. This is the first time in a long time that the Detroit Pistons have not participated in the lottery draft.

It's the first time since 2018 that they have no first-round picks since they were transferred to the Minnesota Timberwolves this season. After three consecutive seasons, Pistons executives and fans were unpopular, winning 10 locations to win the No. 1 pick with a 1.8% chance after the Dallas Mavericks became one of the most unlikely jumps in lottery history.

The Pistons ranked 37th in the second round draft pick. It is not yet clear that Trajan Langdon admitted at the end of the season press conference that all their priority prospects disappeared at that time. They can be completely dependent on what’s on the table, can be traded entirely or exited from the draft.

"I can't tell you, we're looking for a specific thing," he said, "Learn again, to see if there's a player we really like, if we can get a promotion, but we have to see how much the kind of player we think we'll get is, we're going to get all that information in Chicago and start getting all that information in Chicago and get ready for our draft for June. ''''

With the NBA Draft merger in Chicago this week, the Pistons can look for three needs in the June 25 draft, and a potential client that can meet each.

size

For most of Isaiah Stewart missed the playoffs, the Pistons' front-field depth was already on the smaller side. Jalen Duren is the only player they can play with Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson’s Karl-Anthony Towns seven-foot duo. Tobias Harris defended the town, and despite giving up a few inches, it was still a field of need.

They can use a big man responsible for traditional responsibilities - rebound, protect and screen - while also providing enough size to neutralize any advantage on the other end. Duren is listed in 6 feet 10 and 250. Stewart is 6-foot-8 and 250. PaulReed is 6-foot-9, but lights up in the center of the 210.

Options Options: Johnny Broome, 6-10, 240, Auburn, c

Statistics: 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.1 blocks. 0.9 steals, 51% overall, 3 steals (2.5 attempts per game) 27.8%.

At the start of next season, the Super Resident will be 23 years old. His versatility will meet the needs of several frontcourts - he is a strong rebounder and basket protector, and is the passer who can find shooters and cutters at a higher-than-average position. Bloom's three-point shooting percentage needs to be improved, but he is a high-rise prospect with one-on-one skills.

Large depth

Harris had a strong all-around season as the team started four games and took his two-way game to another level in the playoffs. However, he needs support. Simone Fontecchio was eliminated from the rotation after a tough regular season, and Bobi Klintman wasn't ready for prime time in his first season.

Options Options: Adou Thiero, 6-8, 220, Arkansas, F

Statistics: 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.6 steals, 54.5% overall, 3 (1.6 attempts) 25.6%

The lack of external jumpers was the main factor in pulling Thiero back in the first round as he was a comprehensive prospect. Thiero is a physically versatile defender who will match JB Bickerstaff's philosophy. He is also a powerful all-around athlete, he has a very good figure and looks at the floor and is best to go downhill. If the shot appears, he has a chance to be a powerful two-way player in the league.

shooting

Every team needs to shoot, right? Including the Pistons, they beat their 36.2% of their three-pointers last season to rank 17th. There is still room for improvement, especially if one or both of Malik Beasley or Tim Hardaway Jr. is not retained this summer.

Options Options: Drake Powell, 6-5, 185, NC, g/f

Statistics: 7.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 48.3% overall, 37.9% of 37.9% (2.6 attempts)

The freshman defender made powerful measurements on the combined harvester, at a height of 6-5.25 inches and a 7-foot wingspan without shoes. He has beaten 3-pointers since high school and can switch on defense, which makes him a 3-pointer, which makes him a long-term potential for the 3 and the Three-Wings, and he can thrive with Cade Cunningham.
