Details emerge about Antioch High School shooter's 'very concerning' writings

Online text related to the Antioch High School shooter in Nashville, Tennessee, included racist and anti-Semitic content, photos of handguns and praise for mass murderers, a report said.

Investigators at the local, state and federal levels are poring over the words as they try to figure out why a 17-year-old opened fire Wednesday at a Nashville-area high school, killing 16-year-old Jocelyn Corea Eska. Joseelin Corea Escalante was killed and a 17-year-old teenager was injured. A 2-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound before killing himself.

"Detectives from the Homicide Unit, along with law enforcement partners from NOPD and federal/state agencies, are reviewing very concerning online texts and social media posts related to (the teen) as they work to identify the person behind the shooting. motive. in the Antioch High School cafeteria in the morning," the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said.

Police added: "So far, the investigation has not established a connection between (the teen) and the two shooting victims. They may have been struck by his random gunshots in the cafeteria."

The texts, posted on a social media account allegedly operated by the police-identified gunman, included the layout of Antioch High School, photos of handguns and images of flyers from a neo-Nazi white supremacy group that visited Nashville last summer, WTVF reported.

The station described the material as anti-Semitic and the alleged gunman said he had been contemplating violence for months.

The material also included a photo of the shooter who killed three children and three staff members at Nashville's Covenant School in 2023, as well as praise for other mass shooters, WTVF reported.

The gunman, who was armed with a handgun, fired multiple shots inside Antioch High School on Wednesday, Nashville police said in a news release.

Online streaming platform Kick said the attack was "partially live-streamed" and "quickly banned the account and deleted the video."

"KICK does not tolerate violence. We are actively working with law enforcement and taking all appropriate steps to support their investigations," the company said in a statement.

MNPD said two school resource officers assigned to Antioch High School were in another part of the building when shots rang out.

"They rushed to the cafeteria and arrived after (the teen) committed suicide," police added.

"On behalf of the entire Police Department, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the students, parents and staff of Antioch High School," Chief John Drake said in a statement. "Our officers and counselors will be working with the students, parents and staff in the coming days and Work hard to engage in the recovery process over a few weeks.”
