Police launched an investigation after the vandalists used murals of baseball legends Jackie Robinson and Minnie Miñoso as murals.
Located on a fence in Dorsey Park in Miami, the paintings are part of a collection of art that honors several legendary baseball stars.
The Black League team used to play games in the History Park.
A prominent member of the community held a press conference and said the vandalism was initially discovered by a 7-year-old boy. A spokesman at the press conference said the marks left on the mural were identified as Nazi symbols.

After that, plywood was placed on the murals of Robinson and Minioso.
"I know you may not be able to show it on TV, but we need the community to reveal the existing hurt and hatred," said Terrance Cribbs-Lorrant, executive director of the Miami Black Police Department. "The reason it continues because we keep covering it up."

On Wednesday, Democratic U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick described the vandalism as an act of hatred.

"We must aim for this: a hate crime is to instill fear and division. But we will not be scared. We will respond with a firm commitment to truth, justice and preservation of our history," she said.
Robinson became a color barrier for the Major League Baseball in 1947, when he became the first black player to sign with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Miñoso became the first African Latino player in Major League Baseball and the first black player in the Chicago White Sox.
The murals have been on display in the park since 2011.
