If you think former New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr will retire quietly, think about it again.
Carl immediately jumped on social media after announcing a shoulder injury that caused his career to end suddenly on Saturday, entering one of the most popular topics in the NFL offseason: the Cleveland Browns rookie.
Cleveland has been the center of attention since the third round of Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel and Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
In addition to the other five draft picks of the Browns (a total of 56 invited games), they also participated in their first NFL practice from Friday to Sunday.
The quarterback’s battle was particularly interesting after the Sanders’ unexpected slip from a potential first-round prospect to a fifth-round draft pick. He and Gabriel shared mutual respect in an interview Saturday, but on the court, each pass of the two rookies was separated.
Thanks to every player in our rookie mini camp. We built a good relationship during our time together. 🧡 pic.twitter.com/smmx46p5yl

Shedeur's father, Colorado Buffaloes' chief football coach Deion Sanders, shared a video on Instagram that included some of his son's best games since the weekend. This is where Carr appears silent comments, seemingly supporting a fifth-round pick.
His simple comment to a cowhide emoji produced over 1,000 likes and 30 replies under Prime's post and captioned "Ok Young King".

While it may not resonate as Tom Brady’s praise, the later draft pick became a seven-time Super Bowl title, Carr’s approval stamp is not ridiculous.
The former Raider and Saints Caller is the choice for the four-time Pro Bowl, ending his career in several major pass statistics in NFL history, including completions (3,765, 20th), yards (41,245, 22nd) and touchdowns (257, 22nd).

The Saint could have had Shedeur….. pic.twitter.com/7sfiyu0fw9
In another world, Carl could have been a direct mentor to Sanders during his rookie season. New Orleans is a popular spot for Sanders to predict before drafts, using the Sanders cover in the Draft Night Prank – but the Saints took over the 25-year-old QB Tyler Shoough in the second round.
