Dems crying foul when Qatar is willing to give Trump's new Air Force One

A Democratic Congressman called for a moral investigation into President Donald Trump's plan to accept a $400 million jet from Qatar that will temporarily serve as Air Force One and then be assigned to Trump's presidential library after he left his post.

DN.Y. Rep. Ritchie Torres wrote to the Government Accountability Office on Sunday, noting that the plane would be the most expensive gift ever for the U.S. president. Torres mocked the deal as "the flying man" in his opinion that it violated the Emer's clause of the U.S. Constitution, "expressedly prohibiting any person holding a public official from accepting any 'any current king, Muster, office or title, any king, prince, or any scene in a foreign state or foreign state, Mullo will, office or title.

"I wrote that President Donald Trump is ready to accept reports of the Qatar administration's luxury aircraft (Boeing 747-8). The aircraft, described as a "palace in the sky" will be described as President Trump's official use as the Air Force, then for private use, then for private use."

"This 'flying man' is just the latest chapter in a story of a presidential graduate that has never been unprecedented in American history," Torres added.

Trump described the deal in his own words on social media Sunday night.

"The Department of Defense is therefore getting free gifts from 747 aircraft to replace the 40-year-old Air Force One, temporarily in a very open and transparent deal, thus plaguing the crooked Democrats who insist that we are paying for the aircraft, the fact that they insist on paying for the aircraft was causing them to insist on paying for the aircraft."

"Anyone can do this! Dema is a world-class loser!!!" he added.

ABC News reported that Trump visited the plane in West Palm Beach earlier this year. Although the deal will be announced during Trump's trip to the Middle East this week, it is expected that the actual deal will not be made until later. Katari officials said they hope to donate the plane through the Pentagon.

"The aircraft is currently being considered for temporary use as Air Force One between the Qatar Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Defense, but various legal departments are still reviewing the matter and no decision has been made."

For decades, the president circumvented these terms by sorting the gifts they received during their office as gifts to the president’s office. The gifts are then classified and stored as part of the Presidential Library after leaving the office. Although the president maintains some level of access in the library, they do not own them directly and must purchase them from the federal government to ensure privatization.

If the plane is going to enter Trump’s presidential library, it is unclear how the cost is allocated to maintenance and use costs.

When not serving as president, Trump had traveled on his 757 jet, known as Trump One. That jet is known for Trump’s last name and is often seen in the context of campaign rallies.
