Cynthia Erivo says her character Elphaba is in the upcoming "evil" The sequel describes the green-skinned witch as “knowing better” before the 78th annual Tony Awards Sunday night.

"They are no longer in school. They have the power," Erivo said. "I love this part of Elphaba. I call it 'delicious' and I do feel very strong. She just knows...the closet is different. The hair is different. Everything is moving towards a mature version of who she is."

Erivo returns to host Tony Award The actress marks what she calls a "beautiful full circle moment" and she won a portrayal of Tony's "The Color Purple" in 2016. She attributed her career to her work on Broadway and brought opportunities, including her Oscar-nominated performance as Elphaba in the first "Evil" movie.

"I can sit there with you now and do everything I have ever done since then, thanks to Broadway and the work we did in 'Purple'," Erivo said.

During Sunday's ceremony, Erivo planned a variety of clothing changes, but kept the details secret. She said she has participated in many Broadway shows this season to prepare for her reception.

In addition to hosting and film productions, Erivo is preparing for an ambitious theatrical project: a single-player adaptation of "Dracula" in the West End, where she will play 23 different roles. Despite initial hesitation about demanding production, she said the concept became unnecessarily ignored after meeting with the board.

Erivo also released an album on Friday called “I Forgive You,” where she co-wrote her books, which include vocal arrangements that she performed entirely by her, including percussion and rap elements.

The album, she said, is “a full awareness of me as a musician, a singer, a singer and as a person of music in general.”
