College Baseball Week 14: Top 25, what to watch
May 19, 2025, 11:15 AM

We've entered the playoffs! Things have just begun to heat up.

After winning another road series, the LSU Tigers remained the No. 1 spot, but there were a lot of reshuffles in the rest of the rankings. Florida State lost to North Carolina’s home series and fell four positions. Similarly, when volunteers fell to No. 21, while North Carolina State fell to nine positions, other large droppers also included Tennessee.

The biggest booster of the week was Miss Southern, who jumped nine spots, and the Florida Gators are now at No. 15. West Virginia, along with Duke, Louisville and Troy, quitting the rankings, offering No. 16 newcomers to the highest-ranked newcomer, Georgia Tech, as well as Ole Miss, TCU and Kansas.

We participated in many competitions and participated in conference weeks. In a few meetings and a new tournament style at the NCAA Championships, we know the team will bring all of them to the Diamond this week

This is the top 25 ranking as of Monday, May 19.

Play this week

We have to play the best game with the country’s number one team. Just check out this incredible harvest and throw by Josh Pearson.

Watching players

Aidan King, Florida RHP

We've talked about the Florida Gators' performance right now, thanks in large part to freshman Aidan King. He was prolific on the hills of the Gators when they finished the regular season with six straight series. He has six wins this season, and 2.76 ERA. He competed for the SEC Freshman of the Year Award, but we were delighted to see him playing under the bright lights of the SEC Championship. Can he continue to play?

A match worth paying attention to

ACC Championship: Starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday (ACC Network)
SEC Championship: Started Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. ET (SEC Network)

Obviously, we will be locked in all the tournaments this week, but the icing on the cake is particularly interesting considering the format changes. The SEC has all 16 teams in the game this year, and due to the frustration and turnaround of these teams, we wouldn't be surprised if LSU or Texas gets eliminated, or if there are bidders. The ACC has moved from its old pool format to a single-elimination tournament, with all 16 teams participating here. It's certainly unpleasant, and we're excited about these are the appetizers ahead of next week's NCAA Baseball Championship.
