Wake Forest Head baseball coach Tom Walter apologized after a TV camera caught him in the Devil Deacon's seemingly using homophobia in the NCAA Championship in Tennessee.
Walter said he didn't see the video that was all the rage on social media and said he didn't remember that moment in the game.
But he does admit that his “language does not reflect my values or the standards of the program”.
"I am very sorry for the outbreak of frustration last night, and I recognize the harm and disappointment it has caused," Walter's statement said. "I have the consequences and apologize to the University of Tennessee, Wake Forest University and the SEC&ACC."

Wake Forest sports director John Currie also made a statement.
"I was surprised and deeply disappointed by the outbreak of our baseball coach Tom Walter during last night's baseball game," the statement said. "I felt sad for those who were most hurting. I spoke with coach Walter immediately after the game and addressed the incident again this morning, which was totally inconsistent with his character and not in compliance with the standards of Wake Forest Track and Field, Wake Forest University or Atlantic Coast Conference."

Walter's outbreak came at a critical moment in Monday night's Demonic Deacon, with volunteers rising 6-2, with their star first baseman Andrew Fischer in the dish. Walter seemed to be yelling homophobia on the plate after some words were made in the home plate referee.

The Vols left-handed batsman beat the two-shot houses 1-2, extending Tennessee's lead to 8-2. Tennessee continued to win 11-5, eliminating Wake Forest from the NCAA Championship.
In his 16th season leading the Demon Deacon, Walter is the second leader in the program's victory of 493 after his past campaign.
Wake Forest has been developing MLB talent, including five first-round MLB drafts in 2023 and 2024.
