The Chief's $3 billion decision to initially appear on Athlon Sports' strong Travis Kelce message.
Despite falling on the Faladelphia Eagles on Super Bowl Lix and losing in its first three-game title in history, Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs remains one of the most successful franchises in recent memory.
During his 12-year career in Kansas City, Kelce helped the Chiefs in five Super Bowl appearances and won three. He also won the highest ratings for the team in 2024, averaging 25.5 million viewers per game. Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift may also play a role.
Despite all the success, team owner Clark Hunt is still considering a major change to the franchise that could cost him about $3 billion.
According to Nate Taylor of Track and Field, Hunt and Kansas City are still deciding whether to play in Missouri or Kansas after the 2030 NFL season, they hope to make that decision by the end of June.
The Chiefs have performed at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri since 1972, making it the third largest active stadium in the NFL. Despite its popularity, the venue has never hosted a Super Bowl. If the team chooses to keep the arrows, they have the option to refurbish it and add a dome, opening the door to major events like the Super Bowl, Final Four and College Football Playoffs.
Another option the Chief discussed was to abandon the arrow altogether and build a new dome stadium in Kansas. This can give the organization a similar option to the recovery arrow, but may cost more.
""Both options are at work. In fact, our schedule is more driven by having enough time to do renovation work or buildings so we can get into new or renovated buildings in the summer of 2031. To be truly comfortable staying on schedule, it's better to have some direction in the summer."
Although Hunt is concerned about higher profits, Kelce may not be so excited about the Chief who leaves the arrow. But if that's what the fans want, he's willing to accept it.
"The arrows are my home," Kells commented. "It's part of me, playing in that stadium. But the fans want what the fans want. We play for them. I think it's up to them."

While many Chiefs fans are open to the idea of the new stadium, some are not. According to track and field, season ticket holder Lesley Wright prefers teams to stay in the city.
"It's a tough decision," Wright said. "I'm the biggest advocate of downtown stadium. I like the Chiefs and the Royals, but I don't think the plan seems to be very good. I'm not right about it."
