Radio host Charlamagne Towers and comedian Andrew Schultz pushed back against some of the Democratic rhetoric on their podcast "Smart Idiots" on Saturday.

Charlamagne and Schultz opened with a debate over who should get credit for the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, President-elect Donald Trump or President Joe Biden. The radio host disputed claims by his friend Chris Morrow that Biden was responsible for securing the ceasefire.

"Unless smart Democrats like Chris start having honest conversations about the party and what it's doing, nothing is going to change," Charlamagne said, referring to Trump's January 20 "From the moment Trump said that, the conversation started to accelerate. I mean Israeli TV was saying Same thing."

The latest ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was announced on Wednesday, with Hamas releasing 33 hostages over six weeks in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians currently imprisoned by Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Biden and Trump for their role in advancing the negotiations. Netanyahu thanked Biden for his commitment and praised Trump's assertion that Gaza should not become a "terrorist paradise" again.

Charlamagne expressed his disillusionment with the Democratic Party after seeing video of former President Barack Obama and Trump speaking to each other at former President Jimmy Carter's funeral last week.

"I'm sure everyone has seen the intimate video of Barack Obama and Donald Trump, with Barack Obama showing his teeth. That's why I don't like it," Charlamagne said, adding, " In all my 46 years of life, I have never heard anyone mention a political opponent or compare them to Hitler."

Schulz then interjected and asked: "But why are they all hanging out together and clicking with Hitler? I don't get it."

"That's my point," Charlamagne said, adding, "My point is, if you're going to have that rhetoric, keep the same energy."

Charlamagne went on to slam Obama for his friendly relationship with Trump, saying: "You said this man was a threat to democracy. Right? You said those words. You are the last real leader of the Democratic Party. You told Am I okay? "Political optics, why should I, like I said, I said last week, why should I believe anything that comes out of the Democratic Party's mouth? "

The radio host said he "never called Donald Trump a fascist based on anything I heard from Democrats. I said that because of what I heard from Donald Trump's mouth thing. Right. But guess what? I don't even know if I believe it anymore," adding, "But just because of the way they looked, just because of their behavior, I thought, well, God, maybe that doesn't happen. Not that much of a threat.”

"Yes, they lied to you," Schultz replied.
