Champions League Finals: PSG and Inter Milan "Motivation" and "Happy" | Football News

Billions of dollars have been spent. Some of the world's greatest players come and go. However, the Champions League trophy is still painfully out of reach.

That might change.

The Qatari owned team is only one match from European club football's most prestigious award, with Inter standing in the final in Munich on Saturday.

“For me, the motivation is to win a Champions League title for PSG for the first time,” coach Luis Enrique said Friday. “That’s a gift I want to give to the people, the club, the city.”

Inter Milan has "greatest" respect for PSG

PSG is the most popular, an exciting young team with a stunning performance, passing Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal. It feels like its time has finally come.

But the International Front is a crafty opponent, cutting Barcelona’s rampage in an epic semifinal in the second final of three seasons, winning the game 7-6 in total.

"Our opponents, we show the greatest respect for that," said international captain Lautaro Martinez. "But with the weapons we have, we want to hit them in the pain."

Warning signs are there for PSG.

PSG's run to the finals proves the shift from the direction of the Golden Shining Culture of Superstar signing to a more focused focus on young French talent.

Owned by Katar Sports Investments since 2011, PSG has signed on to some of the big names in the football field, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi, who have never longed for most of them on the trophy.

Messi, Neymar and Mbappe are all gone, and without those iconic characters, PSG looks more complete.

"It's about being a team, not a group of people," PSG Marquinhos said. "I fell in love with this team. It's a fun to be a part of the team."

Expensive PSG face savvy Milan

PSG's transformation is still at a certain price.

Players like Ousmane Dembele, Desion Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were signed and assembled into an assembled team at an estimated cost.

Meanwhile, the International Front is savvy in the market - signing older players and picking up free agents to form a team that reached two Champions League finals in three years - lost to Manchester City in 2023 - and won the Italian title at that time.

PSG's only final was in 2020, with Bayern Munich losing 1-0.

This is the semi-finalist for 2021 and 2024. President Nasser al-Khelaifi in 2022 will be before deciding to change his transfer strategy.

This year marks the second time that the three-time champion International Trade Commission (Inter) has surpassed 16 rounds since 2011.

World Cup champion "missed" Champions League medal

The International Front won the 2010 Champions League for the last time under Jose Mourinho.

Dembele is one of the outstanding European players this season, with 30 goals in all PSG games, including 24 of the 18 games from December to March.

Kvaratskhelia was signed from Naples in January and triggered a shift in the fate of the Champions League when it looked like there was danger of being eliminated in the league stage.

Before the move, the Georgian forward had long been considered one of Europe's smartest talents and added another dimension to the already exciting PSG attack.

Midfielders Vitinha and Joao Neves are engines, and with their speed, hunting the ball hungrily when there is no possession and bounce attack.

World Cup champion Lautaro Martinez is an outstanding player on the International Front and has become a scorer in club history in the Champions League this season.

"I won the big trophy, but I missed the Champions League. I'm so glad to be in another final. We want to have the perfect match and bring the trophy back to Milan."

Inter reached the second final in three years as PSG Eyet Jate

Denzel Dumfries beat Barcelona with two goals in the first leg at Nou Camp, and goalkeeper Yann Sommer took a string of saves to keep the International Front tied.

Luis Enrique won the Champions League in Barcelona in 2015, winning 12 major trophies in the match between the Catalan Club and PSG.

If his club, the French champion, wins on Saturday, he will become the seventh coach to win the Champions League or European Cup with two different teams. The list includes Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola and Mourinho.

The victory will be 10 years after his previous championship.

"I'm relieved. I have 10 years of experience since last time," said Luis Enrique. "It's a great opportunity to get to the finals and make history."

Inter's Simone Inzaghi hopes to win his first Champions League title for the second time after beating the city two years ago.

Then, like now, Inter was a weak man, almost frustrating Guardiola's entire conquered city.

"The game doesn't boil down to salary or turnovers, it's the players on the court," Inzaghi said. "Two years ago, we were huge losers, toes.

"I dream of reaching the Champions League final. I didn't do it as a player, but because of this group of players, I've been in the finals of two head coaches."

Inzaghi couldn't match Enrique's trophy count, but impressed him on Inter, winning the Serie A last year, while along with two Italian Cups, it was his third time. Just one week ago, Inter submitted a point in Serie A.
