Cam Ward impressed at the Tennessee Titans Small Training Camp

Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward has impressed his teammates.

The rookie reported this weekend's game to the facility on Thursday. Ward has begun to understand the process of everyone in the building, just like he had previously been in the incarnation, Washington State and Miami stops.

"It's something I've opened to my new teammates," Ward said. "They have had a chance to know me. I've known X (former Miami and current Titans teammate Xavier Restrepo) and have connected with him. I have to connect with others."

The number one draft pick is an aggressive attack script and strives to develop chemistry with rookies and receivers. Tennessee rookie skinny gunner Gunnar Helm said Ward and the young group arrived at the facility early in the morning to watch the movie together.

“He’s just a great leader,” Helm said. “Super easy to talk, super easy to connect, and super easy to communicate with on-site.”

Saturday’s practice was the first time local media saw Ward on the field. He quickly revealed his leadership skills. Ward and rookie receiver Elic Ayomanor failed to connect on a constant route in representative practice. The ball was a little low, behind Ayomanor, and although he hit the hand, the pass was incomplete. Ward immediately signaled that the Eyman returned and got another representative, which led to a clean connection.

"You just have to get it when it's hot, so if there's a problem with the rep, you just have to run it back and get it right," Ayomanor said. "He got the ball out very quickly, which is great, I have to get used to it."

Titans coach Brian Callahan said the leadership aspect came naturally to Ward. Callahan expects Ward to become more satisfied with his new environment, which will show more. Judging from the reactions of his rookie teammates, Ward got a good start.

“CAM has worked great with American recipients,” added rookie Wide Chimere Dike. “He is a very good leader, having that out on the field and throwing the ball well.”

Ward will meet veteran teammates when he arrives at the building on Monday.
