"For young women, CIF's gender identity policy means losing opportunities and an uneven sports field. The consequences of this policy will be in the state semifinals of the CIF's track and field competition this weekend. Star female athletes participating in our school will soon compete for multiple male athletes in multiple track and field competitions, and they will compete with male athletes who are female."
“CIF’s gender identity policy also promotes an environment that is increasingly hostile to religious member schools. CIF expects all faith-based schools to promote CIF’s gender identity policy puts religious schools in a position where they cannot comply with their faith periods in classrooms and communities, but contrary to their beliefs in the field of athletic ability.”
The letter continues to show that some female athletes compete for three Christian schools in Saturday’s semi-finals.
Then before meeting at Yorba Linda High School on Saturday, several female athletes, parents and school officials spoke at a press conference hosted by Sophia Lorey, director of publicity at the California Family Council.
"No matter how hard we train, how many hours we put in, men and women are always different," said Crean Lutheran's Olivia Viola. "To me, it seems unfair. CIF does nothing to protect our female athletes."
The CIF is currently under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for allowing transgender athletes to participate in women's sports and potential violations.
