Caleb's plants were stunned by the unforgettable Armando Reséndiz

Armando Reséndiz caused great frustration on Saturday night, beating former world champion Caleb Plant and decided to occupy the interim WBA super middleweight title at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.

Reséndiz (16-2, 11 KOS) won the scorecard of two judges with the same 116-112 score, covering a card that led 115-113. The 25-year-old Mexican eliminated plants in 12 rounds and lost for the second straight and third in the last five games.

"I know everyone will be against me because paper is certainly a favorite," Reséndiz said. "But I believe in myself. My corners believe in me. Then we did everything we did."

Reséndiz presses the action from the open bell, walks along the plant, scoring with his right hand and left hook. His third round was strong, and again on the seventh fall, the right counter and left hook swayed. According to Compubox, Reséndiz drained the plants from 186 to 108 and landed 31% of his fists on 21% of the plants.

"I know I'm going to win," Reséndiz said. "I'm not worried at all. I know it's going to be a tough battle and we've given them a great battle. I'm ready to fight anyone. Whoever the public wants."

Plant (23-3, 14 KO) relies on movement and jabs, but strives to keep Reséndiz away from him. Both judges gave Reséndiz in the final seven rounds.

“I felt it was close and in a close fight, sometimes switching in another way.” “I felt like I was under control enough, using the whole ring, using the poke, but the judges saw it in another way.”

The plant insists that he has never been seriously injured.

"It's not that he put too much pressure on me," he said. "He grabbed me with one right hand. That's fine. But beyond that, nothing really hurts me or shocks me."

The 31-year-old former IBF champion holder said he plans to regroup and return.

"I feel like I'm doing a great job," he said. "I used the poke, I used the whole ring and was patient, but I'm not a better man tonight. I'll be back with my team. Go home and go home, with my daughter. My son is on the way and you know we're going to get together again and we'll be back."

"It feels great to come back," Charlotte said. "I thank everyone who stands by my side. I love you guys. I'm back. You know you have to go through things to get better."

Charlo, who fought for the first time since June 2021, looks sharp behind the heavy thrust and clean combination. He landed 44 pokes with direct rights and left hook and repeatedly hurt Ramana (39-6-1, 18 KOS). The left hook in the third round dropped Lamanna for the first time. In another remaining man who forced Lamanna's knees for the fourth time, the round's video comments overturned the referee's initial knock-free ruling.

In fifth place, Charlotte took his right hand and threw Ramanna out for the third time. Although Lamanna rang to the bell, the doctor waved the battle before the sixth round began.

"I just want to stay well-known and relevant," Charlotte said. "There is no longer a place of darkness, keep looking straight. I just want to encourage everyone in the world to keep God first, keep God first."

Lamanna said Charlo's timing and poke were better than expected.

"That's it, I tried my best," Ramanna said. "The doctors are here for a reason, they made the decision. I was disappointed, but it was boxing. Charlotte was smarter than I expected. He was the reason for winning the world championship twice."
