Brothers Valley wins plan's first PIAA softball playoff game

Berlin - June 2, the first round of the PIAA 1A softball playoffs, which is the banner day of Berlin Brothers Valley sisters Sam and Sydney Walker on Diamonds, June 2.

Freshman Sam Walker was dazzled in the circle, allowing a pair of hits, only four benchmarkers and hit six, while Sydney Junior Sydney Walker made two hits, including a single home run, sending the climbers 3-0 out of Mikes to beat the first PIAA softball playoff in planned history 3-0.

"Every game, there are different people," said Berlin coach Brian Slope. "We have some consistent players, but every game is different players, making a big hit or a good defensive performance. Today, our defense is great."

The Berlin offense caused the first big blow to the game on Kamikel teenage ace Ace Bailey Barnyak. Coral Prosser hit 2 innings singles and all the way to Sam Walker's RBI doubles.

Barnyak has made his third straight PIAA playoff appearance, with a 0.74 tiny era in 18 games.

The Climbers (19-3) played second in the fifth against Wpial. Cayley Poorbaugh drove a four-legged walk. Haylee Speicher hit the ball very hard to a short time on the 1-2 court, but scored inadequately on the second shot. The throwing distance from the right fielder is the fence at the third baseline, allowing Poorbaugh to lead 2-0.

The sixth thing becomes strange.

Freshman Bryn Prosser took the bottom of the frame with a perfect sideline (second base where Ashton Batis is) in the second direction. Sydney Walker, who rose to a single left on the fourth time, saw another court from Barnyak and drilled a ball on the left fence, looked like a 2-round home run.

Carmichaels coach David Briggs appealed that Prosser missed the plate. Thad Kiesnowski, who once had a first base referee, said Prosser missed the plate, making Walker's home run a solo with just 3-0 Berlin's lead.

"We're really trying to watch our ascending ball and the choice of the court," Sydney Walker said. "We're all ready to wait for a good court and hit it when we get a ball."

Sam Walker and Sam Walker were not resolved. She allowed University of Pennsylvania recruit Katie Waggett to hit six hits in the third inning, which was five innings. Mikes (16-2), who finished second in PIAA a season ago, did not finish third until his final game against Walker, who improved to 10-2 in this year's game.

"I know I have to step up today," Sam Walker said. "They are a great team, a great team. They have a very high average hit rate (.371). They will definitely hit the ball into the game. I know my defense will back. I know I can't miss any course. I throw them where I need it, get my roots and off-road group... what I need... I'm not so good. I'm not so good tonight.

Berlin met Cambridge Springs, which beat West Green 9-0 on June 5.
