British military attacks, we target Houthi rebels in Yemen

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Officials said earlier Wednesday that the British military and the U.S. launched air strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen, their first attack in Washington's new fierce campaign against Iranian support groups.

Britain provided a detailed explanation for its departure from the United States to launch a strike that had little details on the more than 1,000 goals it encountered since the campaign began on March 15.

The campaign, called "Rude Operations" has been targeting the rebels when the Trump administration negotiated with their main benefactor Iran's main donors about Tehran's rapid advance of nuclear program.

The British Ministry of Defense described the site as "a bunch of buildings used by Houthis to build drones used to attack ships in Red Sea and Aden, about 15 miles (25 kilometers) in Sanaa."

The ministry added that RAF Typhoon FGR4 participated in the raid, abandoning the Paveway IV guided bomb.

"The strike was taken after dark, when the possibility of any civilian in the area was further reduced," the ministry said.

The British provided no information on the damage caused during the strike, nor did they believe that they believed anyone was killed.

The U.S. Central Command does not admit the strike.

"This action was taken in response to Houthis' ongoing threat to freedom of navigation," said British Defense Secretary John Healey. "The 55% drop in transport through the Red Sea has cost billions of dollars, exacerbating the dangers of regional instability and risking the economic security of British families."

Hushis reported on several strikes the group has been in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen since 2014.

Britain has participated in US air strikes since the Biden administration began its strike against Houthis in January 2024. But the new strike is the first to see the British campaign under U.S. President Donald Trump.

The UK-US joint strike came after Monday's alleged U.S. air strikes attacked a prison with African immigrants, killing at least 68 people and injuring 47 people. The U.S. military said it is investigating.

On April 18, a U.S. strike on Ras Isa fuel port killed at least 74 people and injured 171 people in the deadliest U.S. attack.

The United States is striking Yemen on two aircraft carriers in the region - Harry S in the Red Sea.

Hushis is the last militant group in Iran’s self-described “Axis of Resistance” that is able to attack Israel regularly. The rebels began attacks on the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip and decided that Israel decided to stop the flow of aid to the Palestinians.

The U.S. strike sparked controversy over Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's use of an unclassified signal messaging app to publish sensitive details about the attack.

Earlier Thursday, Heggs directly threatened Iran in a message on social platform X.

"A message to Iran: We see your fatal support for Huthis. We know exactly what you are doing." "You know very well the capabilities of the U.S. military - and are warned. You will pay the consequences at the time and place of our choice."
