The inauguration celebrations for President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance are taking shape as committees release a (nearly) final list of events, performers and participants.
Carrie Underwood surprised some fans when she confirmed she'll be singing "America the Beautiful" earlier this week, and when she arrives in Washington, D.C., she'll have a lot from In company with the country music community. and Rascal Flatts are scheduled to take the stage, either at one of the three official inaugural balls or at the Make America Great Again Victory Rally. Gavin DeGraw, whose work spans pop, rock and country, is perhaps best known for his hit album chariot picture one tree hill The anthem "I Don't Want to Be" will be performed at the Starlight Ball. Monday's event will also feature remarks from President Trump. News of DeGraw's involvement was criticized by some fans, so much so that his name became a trending topic on X Wednesday.
The Village People revealed directly to fans that they would be attending the inauguration. The band, whose classic single "YMCA" has long been an anthem for the LGBTQ community and a favorite of Trump's at countless rallies and events, released a statement Monday. "We know this won't make some of you happy, but we believe music should be performed without politics in mind," the band shared on Facebook. The group is scheduled to perform at two events, including the MAGA Victory Rally and the Liberty Ball. "Our song 'YMCA' is a global anthem that hopes to help unite the country amid a chaotic and divisive campaign in which our favorite candidate failed." (mention mentioned Their support for failed Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris).
Other names may be less surprising, such as Kid Rock, a longtime Trump supporter. Greenwood became a familiar face on the Trump campaign trail by performing "God Bless America" at multiple events. Speaking about his upcoming trip to Washington, the veteran singer said he "can't wait" to take the stage at the U.S. Capitol to perform live with the U.S. Marine Corps Band before the president is sworn in. "Americans obviously love the way he was elected," Greenwood told "Fox & Friends."
"The 60th Inaugural Ceremony will herald President Trump's triumphant return to the White House and begin the road to America's great renewal. These special events will commemorate the rich history and traditions of our great country, the American people, and our nation's commitment to future generations. "We look forward to celebrating with all of you in Washington, D.C., and ushering in a new golden era of strength, success, and common sense in the Oval Office."
