Bill Clinton opposes President Trump's agenda: "We can't abandon the legacy of this country"

President Bill Clinton criticized President Trump for his actions in attacking the rule of law and predicted that the president would pay the price among those who consider his actions to be non-Americans.

"We've never seen anything like this in our lives - someone said, 'What I want should be the law of the land. It's my way or the highway.' And, most Americans don't agree with that," Clinton said in an interview with "CBS Sunday Aunday Morning." "But I think he paid for it, you know, the name calls and waving his weight...I think it makes him less popular."

He said opposition to Mr. Trump would be strengthened if Democrats win the governor's game this year and win the House in 2026.

"Look, only elections will change that," he said. "But I do think the court is lifting the hijab. I think he shut the law firm before federal agencies and federal buildings because he disagrees with their position - not the United States. We never did that. We never did it.

So far, the courts are stopping the president, "including many of the judges he appointed. And, he is looking for ways to basically violate all of these court orders. But I think it would be hard for him to do that. If he does, I think it would hurt him in the United States."

Democratic opposition

When asked if he thinks the only thing Democrats agree with is resentment to Trump, Clinton replied: "If I think that's true, I will. But I think that's not right. I just think most people don't have any ideas - most critics Democrats are criticizing Democrats now right now - don't know what to do. I don't think it's easy to do.

"That in the future. The election will happen. We will see.

"President Trump has the right to do what he thinks is right; he is doing it," Clinton said. "The courts are doing their jobs. There are other elections. But, someone needs to stand up and say, 'Damn, we have more in common. We can't throw away the legacy of this country. We can't destroy the trust that others have in us. We need to uphold that and find a way to work together, rather than humble others so that we can win." We're going to calm down and try to pull people together again. ”

Elderly

Last November, Clinton released his book Citizen: My Life After the White House, and then Talked to "Sunday Morning" About the importance of citizens “supporting what we think is the right thing”.

In the second month, Clinton, then 78, was trapped in the hospital with his health fears. "It turned out to be no big deal," he said. "I basically lost my balance, I knew I was sick, I went to the hospital to check in, and they said I was severely dehydrated. I got very careful and I left the next day."

As for today’s health, he said: “It’s great as I know. But when you grow up, you have to be more careful to stay hydrated.”

Asked about recent books about President Joe Biden, suggesting that people around him see signs of cognitive and physical decline, Clinton said he had never seen any cognitive decline and did not feel that Biden was not suitable for running for president. "I thought he was a good president. I think the only problem he had to deal with was that they won't be able to do the job until they were 86?" Clinton said. "We gave several long speeches. I've never seen him before, walked away and thought, He can't do this anymore. He is always on his underwear.

"I haven't read this book yet. I met President Biden a while ago and I thought he was in good condition. But the book didn't register with me because I've never seen him."

When asked why he didn’t read the book, Clinton replied, “I don’t want to.’ Because he is no longer president and I think he’s done a good job. And I think we are facing challenges today without historically no precedent. Some people try to use it as a fact to blame him because Trump is the fact that he was recalled.”
